i got so many question with this damn thing:

okay, this unit will handle boost up to 300kpa(43.5psi). ti gives this equation:
100kpa = 14.5psi so...
6.9kpa actual, rounded up to 7kpa = 1psi.

To set boost level, it says in the "set" section that 100% will boost up to turbo/wastegate limit, and that 0% will boost to the base boost, which i assume to be 10psi since i have the HRC stage 2 wastegate that came with the kit. those are 10psi correct?

so if i want low boost to be 10psi i should set the "set" value to 0%, right?
and now the fun part: i want to set high boost to 16psi, what should i set the % vale to in that section?

so essentialy, 100% = 300kpa =43.5psi, so 33% = 100kpa = 14.5psi, so roughly every 2% increase will give me a tad over 1psi, correct?
SO...so ROUGHLY 37% on high "set"(boost) should give me close to 16psi, right?

does anyone have thiers dialed in that could lend me some #'s?

i have no experience with the unit but based on the info, i would guess that you calculate percent boost as follows:

if 0% = 10psi
and 100% = 43.5 psi

then 16 psi = (16-10)/(43.5-10) = 17.9%

that way 43.5 psi = 100%
and 10 psi = 0%

mathematically sound but idk if that's how the unit actually works. emoji

*edit*
i don't think 100% corresponds to the maximum the profec B can handle though... but i could be wrong. kinda threw me off b/c you said 100% boost will be the maximum the wastegate/turbo can handle... can you post or link to the instructions?

haha ok i think i had it right the first time.

if you want x psi then:

(x-10)/(43.5-10) = % boost

basically 0% means the profec B is doing nothing. it lets your wastegate function as normal without diverting any pressure away from it (wastegate will open at whatever it is set to open at). in your case when you hit 10psi the wastegate will open like it should.

when boost it 100% the profec B will diver ALL pressure away from the wastegate and the wastegate will see NO boost. more specifically your wastegate WILL NOT OPEN.

if you want 16 psi then using ^^^ that formula you should set it to about 18%...

best way to find out is just slowly increase the % an see where it gets you. the formula is assuming that that 100% would give you 43.5 psi (assuming nothing blew up).

the set boost level is a raw duty cycle percentage. different percentages for this level will get you different boost levels depending on the setup.

18% in the Spec 2 won't get you anywhere near 16 psi.

1 bar (on my car)
1.05 bar for the thingy with the stuff can't remember the label
45% for the duty cycle
15% for the gain

k listen to him ^^^

i was workin off your assumption that 100% = 43.5 psi

which isn't right i guess emoji

mathematically sound though emoji

I also have this damn thing too. Your total desired boost is also determined by the start boost and gain. Your boost can increase or decrease just by changing these values and not touching the set boost value. This thing is tricky I am still trying to work out all the kinks for about 16-17psi as well.

well, i do beleive my calculations to be correct! I turned up the "boost" today to 39% and im holding pretty good around 15-16psi.
Still playin with the other 2 settings...

Hey Tim what turbo do you have? What numbers do you have for the other 2 settings(ish)? I have the s20g. I have mine set at 39% also and my gain at like 10 and my startboost at like 12 but it wont hold boost at 16psi. It will hit 16 but then falls to like 14.5. If I go any higher on my gain I get that weird surging which I think is boost spike. Let me know PLEASE this thing is a PITA! Thanks,
Patrick

Hey, im runnin the S16G. mine is set at 39 for "set", "gain" is 25 (i think) and "set gain" is at 35. the manual says that the closer the "set gain" is to the "set", the faster the spool up will be.

im still fiddlin' with mine so i will keep you updated.

Hey thanks Tim. Do you get any of the surgeing that I am talking about, do you have any clue as to what I mean?

1.main setting = 0-100% is duty cycle of the solenoid
2.start boost = pressure where the solenoid begins to regulate
3.gain = How fast the solenoid regulates to the set boost.

I have the profec E-01, but i think the settings are the same.

start boost is usually 2.8 psi below what your target psi is. So if your target is 16 psi you want start boost at around 13.2 psi. just set this and leave it.

gain should first be set to around 10

go drive around and change your main boost setting and make some runs, gradually increasing the main boost % until you get a stable boost reading in this case 16 psi.

what gain does for you is you can make the onset of boost different. the higher the gain the faster the boost will build (above the start boost setting). so if you want the boost to overshoot and fall to your target boost then you would set gain high. if you want boost to slowly build to max (16 psi) then set it low. I like about a 1 psi overshoot before stabilization.

if you are seeing boost go to 16 psi and then fall to 14 and stabilize, your boost % is too low and you gain is too high.

get it?
