Is there a good lube for the cam shafts and cam caps? Or would a heavy oil work?

I use moly ass-embly lube

Yeah, on a fresh built motor, you "should" use a moly assembly lube. It won't drain off like normal oil, so you can leave a new motor sit for a long time before firing it up. Heavy weight oil is ok too, but I would not let the motor sit for very until its fired up. YOu want to use assembly lube on the valvetrain, main and rod bearings.

actually vasoline is very acceptable when putting together a motor.

i use moly lube if i have enough, if not just assembly lube. i remember hearing somewhere you could use vaseline, i'd rather just use moly lube though or something like that, no difference i guess

If you are assembling the engine and waiting a little before everything is in and running, use assembly lube.

If you are swapping cams and firing her up a coat of regular oil will be fine.

Because the engine's a roller rocker design, there is no camshaft break in period, or special cam lube. It's not an old pushrod V-8.

In case you're curious I've verified this with Crower, when I got my cams.
