#66413, "Planning on getting a turbo..."

I'm planning on getting a turbo i a few months so i was wondering how i should go about doing that. I've found sites that sell turbo's for eclipses and my boyfriend knows a place that will sell a turbo motor for 1k, but i just don't know...if i get the motor, wouldn't i have to buy the kit? And are there places that sell kits for less than 3k (that's the cheapest one i found)? And can i just go straight into a stage 2? I have a 100% non-turbo eclipse.

3) FYI, Turbo eclipse motors dont plug into non-turbo eclipse cars.

I think you would find a lot of information within the forum. Do not get offended if people tell you to search. Please do search.

BTW, if you have the money, you might want to contact hahnracecraft for your turbo needs. It will take more than $1000 dollars to get your 420A turboed. Cheers and happy searching.

Then be prepared to rewire the car, fabricate mounts, etc. Get a kit, be done with it.

You guys have to realize that many people don't know anything at all about the internet, much less message forums. Hell, I can't even find the search button when I'm looking for it most of the time. And as long as new users come to this forum, we'll have the same questions that have been asked before. I've always thought this was a place to discuss and ask questions, instead of being a place to research archived threads. That would be a knowledgebase, this is a message forum. Seems like some of you are itching just to tell a noob to search. Get a life... skip the thread. Sorry for the bitching, it's been a long night. Maybe I just need to spark one up.

ON TOPIC:
The turbo motor swap will be fairly tedious and costly. To complete the swap, you need to have a lot of DSM experience. I've rebuilt a handful of the stock turbo motors as well as our motor (which is completely differnet) and I wouldn't try it. Your best bet is to purchase turbo kit from Hahn RaceCraft (turbosystem.com). They are "IT" when it comes to a complete professional turbo kit. You can jump straight to stage 2, as it just adds components to the stage 1 system. Stage 3 you'll want to wait for, you'll know when you're ready for that! Please do check out the "things seen before" section and search through some old messages though... good info in both places. Does that help?

It's not that hard Doug. People just needs to find the S-E-A-R-C-H. Anyways while we're on it, I heard of a guy with an RS with a cyclone engine it it. I'm trying to track him down since my lil bro has connections to him somehow so I can confirm it as far as 4g63 swaps go. He lives in my town. But I do know another guy who did a 4g63 swap in his car, but end up spending about 10-13k because so many other shit needed to get changed out. New tranny, new axles, new everything. Hahn or STAR is still her best bet.

That's where all the time and money goes when doing a swap like this... buying and installing parts, on a trail-and-error basis. It makes a lot of sense to buy a cheap donar car so all that shit is accessable when needed. It can definetely be done... but if you want a 4G63, buy a GST/X.... unless you like doing odd fabrication and tedious tasks just for shits and giggles.
