#66404, "Vortech SFMU help and comments"

Okay I just got my Vortech SFMU and I will replacing the Cartech one that came with the HRC kit. I need to know how easy this will be so I can plan when to do this. Will I need anything else on the installation? What is the best disk and ring to use when boosting 5 PSI? Should I unplug the bleed port? Most of all I need help on the Vacuum port. Any comments or helpful hint are appreciated. Thanks in addvance.

I am assuming your on stock injectors...

I have the largest disk, the spring to use is the hard spring. For the vaccuum ports, I don't even have mine adjusted. I just left it close but not tight at all.

Okay when you say that your using that largest disk I assume your talking about the disk on the bottom of this picture? Also when you say the hard spring is what I wanna use I assume your talking about replacing the one thats inside the Vortech already with the one that comes with all the discs?

Also does anyone know which on this cartech picture is the Fuel In and which one is the fuel return line?

One more question the tube (vac tube) that was connected to the top of the cartech should I just connect that to the nozzle right on top of the Vortech by the static adjuster strew thing.

On the disk question, yes the largest disk is the proper set up. Except you just put the disk in, NOT the "spacer/large ring" thing (I don't know what to call it).

I have never used the cartech but this should help.

That's for the 96+. Here's if your a 95:

On the sfmu, the side port is the fuel in, and the bottom is the return line to the tank.

I think, the hard disk is the darker one of the two. Try searching here, cause I am absolutely sure that I've read on here which spring is which as indicated by the color cause I know I've posted about installing the sfmu.

it's a direct plug and play. Bottom port is the return line and side port goes to the fuel rail. Real easy install. Keep vacuum and boost screw on the sfmu in all the way. Do not adjust it. I believe extreme97 was running the 3rd disk with the the largest ring for stock injectors along with the bleed valve to adjust it. When your car idles fine leave it alone, but it should be at about 50-55psi of fp at idle. and about 90-95psi at bull boost for 5-7psi if I remember correctly. Do you have a digital a/f guage?

What about torquing down the 6 allen head screws on the top when I replace the disk and spring? I don't have a torque wrench that goes that low. I have one of the wrenches that clicks but the lowest it goes is 15ft/lbs what should I do? I looked at the vortech instructions and it said 2ft/lbs is that right? That seems really low. Also I have no gauges except for the fuel one I use to test and a boost gauge.

I still have that same fuel gauge t'd off the sfmu. Been over 2 years and still hasn't fucked up on me. As for as torquing the 6 allen screws. I say 3 fingers tight, meaning put the allen head between your thumb and point and middle finger and tighten it just enough. You dont want it too tighten nor too loose. Just feel for it.
