#66315, "running 36lb injectors and FMU 4:1?"

well i'm breaking down my fuel system little by little, i'm just trying to sell the stuff i had before to come up with enough cash to build the 8-injector setup. i just want to ask if i change the FMU disk to 4:1, (currently the 6:1), and take off the SAFC. do you think the ECU will adjust ok to it without having to use the SAFC to lean it out? i'm probably going to still be a little rich, but i was hoping in the mean time to have it this way so i can sell the SAFC.

whoa i'm surprised! it idles perfect!!! well after hooking up the battery and obviously the comp is reset, i let it sit for like 15min, it stayed at a steady 18hg, stoich is good fluctuating perfect. when i did a test run, it's kinda rich though, full boost at 12psi, it was rich at 1.01 in 4th gear. that's a little up there but it's probably due to the 6:1 disk. but wow i thought it was gong to idle like shit. not only that, my enigne runs better w/o that damn SAFC. my engine is like super calm even after a boosted run. so there you go, our ECU can adjust well even with bigger injectors. i'm going to change the FMU disk to 4:1 see if it drops a bit at full boost.

6:1 is probably about where you want to be with 36lb sprayers. You'll likely end up too lean with 4:1. I ran a 3:1 with 440's and no AFC compensation up top and i was about where i needed to be.

Answer to question 1 ... he didn't run without the S-AFC on the 440s. He just didn't have any AFC corrections in the high RPM ranges. He ran rich in the lower RPM ranges but the 440s and the 3:1 gave him just the right amount of fuel up top.

Question 2 ... the vortech site probably doesn't know that you're a 4 cylinder since most of hte stuff they sell is kits for v6 and v8. When it says that its probably refering to a blower added to a v8 and needs the 8 injectors upgraded to 19lb/hr injectors.
