I just found a guy getting rid of a turbo, a turbo manifold, and the piping. I was wondering what else i need to get my car running with the turbo installed. I know i could use an intercooler and what not but i just want to know what i NEED at the moment. Someone told me that i would need to chang my ECU... what do i change it to? An eclipse turbo ecu? Where can i get my hands on one. Anyways, im new to the whole turbo world and i could really use some help and ideas. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

OH MY GOD....dude, prepare for the flames. You REALLY need to use the search. If you can't use the search just go through pages and pages of the turbo section

The ONLY thing you can use off of a factory turbo eclipse is the turbo, intercooler, and blow off valve. That's IT! Our engines are entirely different.

I'm putting together a custom kit now which has taken me almost a year to research. Learn before you ask questions.

Edit: OH, the ecu's are completely different too. You have a 420a Chrysler engine, turbo eclipses have a 4g63 Mitsubishi engine.

Yeah you won't be able to use the 4G63 computer so whoever told you that is full of it.

well i'll tell you this... search for "custom turbo kit" or "junk yard turbo" or something along those lines. you will find more than you'll be able to read. i have been reading this site for over a year now about putting together a custom turbo kit. only in the past week have i begun to purchase things. i got a t-3 turbo set up off of an 84 thunderbird and a 1st gen bov. none the less... plan on reading for a long time.

My suggestion would just be to go ahead and scour the turbo forum. Just start reading - and go back as far as you can stand it. Then start searching for stuff inparticular as it interests you. It helped me understand more than I could ever imagined. I'm working on a custom system right now. Quite a few people have built a custom system, but information about how the over-the-counter kits(like HRC and Star) work is important as well because I think it'll give you a bit more insight as to how you really want to approach gettin boost. You should come to the conclusion after a bit of research that a turbo, manifold, and exhaust is only part of the equation. You still have to about the fuel system, intake plumbing, gauges, and various other little details. As far as the manifold is concerned - make sure it's for a 420a(dodge motor). Its best to use one thats specifically designed to run in the Talon/Eclipse - cause placement is an issue in the front of our engine compartment. You'll need to decide if its the right size turbo for what you want to do. There is a tremendous wealth of information in this forum. If you have enough patience to do the research then you can learn everything that you need to know about turbocharging your car. Good luck with it.

*Tim grabs Uber by his ankle and swings him around until he looses his grip causing uber to shoot through space. Meanwhile V picks up the noob and pumps him in the air. Tim comes from behind and gives the noob the 3-D! Oh my gawd the noob is down. Now V stands over his head. Oh he's motioning for the elbow pads to come off. He's running to one side, and he's turning and runs back, jumps over the noob, turns around again and runs back, he stops right over the noobs head. OH my gawd he's doing the rain dance. The right arm is raised. Oh no and he comes down with the 2gnt ELBOW! Right to the forehead!* Bring on the next Noob who doesn't use the search function.
