#65847, "T3/T4 Ball Bearing vs. 16G Ported/Clipped vs. T4"
When building my turbo, I had originally wanted the T3/T4, but just yesterday when I went to order the parts, they suggested a 16G ported and clipped, which would spool faster making a take off faster than the T3/T4... Honestly, I havent got a clue about either. Can anyone tell me differances between the both and pros and cons. Also, he said maybe I should say fuck both, and go with the T4. eh...... what do you think?
And yes the motor was rebuild by VT, so it will handle it and like it!

There are more turbo combos than different types of women(sorry gals). You need to find what works best for you goals of the vehicle. Then you need to think about how you intend to supply the right amount of fuel and spark to make this all happen.
If you give us all the details of what you want to do, then it would be fairly easy to point you in a good direction.

correct me if I wrong...but I believe that the 16g is going to spool the fastest...the T4 is going to spool the slowest but give you the most top end power. And the T3/T4 would fall some place in between...but if you get a ball bearing T3/T4 that'll reduce the spool time. I think your orginal choice is the best...but that's just my oppinion.

Okay, T3/T4 WHAT??
There are so many variations of T3/T4 that it is not funny. Each and every one has different characteristics and flow rates. Give me some REAL specs, wheel sizes, housing types, trims, AR ratios, and i'll tell you what it'll do. Just saying T3/T4 is like saying "Mom" in a crowded grocery store.

Now that's some funny shit... very true though, no two turbo's are alike, and without specs you cannot compare them...

wwd and a fast spool doesn't exactly equate to traction. i actually like my t3/t4 for this reason. you don't usually see most racers who like going from a dig choosing a wwd car as their weapon of choice. i say stick w/ a t3/t4 somewhere in the 50 trim ball park and you won't be unhappy. you have mad hp up top and a decent amount of lag to keep your tires on the ground. it all comes down to your preferences and your driving abilities. you plan on making it a track car or a highway car? that should make your choice for you. t3/t4>16g on highway. 16g>t3/t4 off the line

A T3/T4 BB of ANY kind is pretty much the hest of both worlds. You wouldnt need a straight T4 unless you are building a srtaight up drag-only car. T3/T4 will supply all the HP you will ever need, and it spools up fairly quickly, if you have an exhaust system capable of letting it breath properly. 1999 C5 1997 Silver RS Wiseco 8.8:1 Pistons(back to low compression!) I now that the typical star stage 2 turbo BallBearing will actually spool as fast as the HRC super 16G (full spool at 2700rpms and that's good) but that it will support more power when you decide to up pressure.
