#65631, "ENGINE BACK TOGETHER... spark plugs??.."

Sup guys.
Finally, I got everything back together, other then some small things like alternators/PS/AC belts, turbo, and downpipe (making a new one)...
but this time, I work on everything to make everything RIGHT!

So now I need to ask where you guys get the spark plugs for the TURBO CHARGED 2gnt.com?
I read and search that NGK is good, but Autozone doesn't sell them anymore.

So I should get spark plug that is "colder" and gap at .30?
Am I correct? But can someone point me a website or location where I can get them?

Thanks alot!
Very close to driving my baby eclipse again!
Gil

Sorry, I meant "turbo charged eclipse" not '2gnt.com' .. lol

anyway, so NGK BKR 7E plugs. 1 range colder is the one I need for any turbo charged eclipse? no matter how much boost I am running? (I am running at 6-8PSI right now)

also, is the NGK BKR 7E plugs is already 1 range colder? or I need to ask for 1 range colder?

Thanks all.
Gil

BTW.. I just went to summit.com
and I type in NGK BKR 7E in the search, no match found.
So I type in just NGK, and 3 pages pop out, but non of them specify the BKR 7E they are all NGK-xxxx (4 digits)
Sorry if I am stupid, but I am not sure which one I need to get.

Thanks again!

The turbo charged 2gnt.com uses beer and lighters!

Autozone sells them, they just don't stock them.

But I thought turbo needs .30-.35"

Am I wrong? or the site is correct?
THanks

For the love of God, just get the NGK BKR7E's. Dont worry about ANYTHING else. Put them in and drive. If you have an Advanced Auto parts store by you, they either will stock them, or can get them the next day.

Ok Gilee here you go. Something to remember. Oh this forum sometimes people forget that not everyone is on the same level and that not all have the knack for working on cars. So I will help you.

The spark plug you are looking for is a BKR7E-11 Advanced does carry this plug (may have to order)they may know the plug as a 1283. The plugs actual application is fro 2002 Saab 9-3 2.0L4 B205R EFI Turbo. The gap will say .39 I suggest gapping your plugs at .35 DO NOT just put the plugs in before checking the gap. Thats is so wrong to do even if the clerk at Advanced says yes the are pre gapped always check them. Although these plugs are not pre gapped per the clerk here in my hometown. I hope this helpes you. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me at www.xicc.net

Ahh, a voice for the noobs, how noble. How 'bout this, tell them to just USE THE FUCKING SEARCH. It's really cool, and you can learn stuff too. emoji

You don't see me start many threads on this board because I SEARCH FOR THE ANSWER FIRST. This isn't a new car that no one knows anything about. Hell, there isn't much left to do to them that hasn't already been done. Where do you think that leaves questions like this one? ALREADY ANSWERED.

I'm sorry, but if you don't know how to gap spark plugs, then you shouldn't be installing custom turbo kits, doing advanced motor work like headgaskets, ect..Yes, we all started somewhere, and I learned all i know by hands on work. I just tore into it, and learned as I went. But I took things little by little, and tried to learn as much as possible before a major job. Don't bite off more than you can chew, is my saying..As for the plugs, the BKR7E is the correct plug. They ALWAYS come gapped to the proper gap, UNLIKE the 7E-11's, which you HAVE to gap. What the fuck is so hard to understand here!!!! Every set of the BKR7E's I have installed(quite a few) have been a perfect gap every time. NGK's are not like cheap shitty champion plugs..Like said many times here, the simple search button does wonders, not to mention places like GOOGLE that works also!!!

We really need for people to use the SEARCH button a tad more.

This topic is almost as bad as asking about 4g63's in a 2GNT. C'mon now guys emoji

Come on guys.
I know I can just get them.
And NO I won't ask anymore questions even I really want to...

anyway, thanks.
Gil

BTW, yes.. you will say "he ask question again..." but I never understand this..
And first, I DID USE THE SEARCH OK... I always do.
Now my "QUESTION" IS!

If I bought the spark plug at .044" gap, how can I gap it to .03" gap???

I thought gaping it must go from lower to higher, like I get a spark plug at .025 and gap it to .03 but anyway, I know I will get frame by this again, but THIS ANSWER IS NOT IN THE SEARCH at all! OK.
Thanks.
Gil

UPDATE: Thanks ALL!!! I got the answer from autozone.

#65659, ""Cold" versus "hot" plugs"

Good question this time.

No, they're not the same. The 7 versus 6 designation has nothing to do with the gapping size. The 7 range plug is a colder plug that a 6 range plug.

Plugs come in what is termed "heat ranges." Put simply, a "cold" plug has a shorter path through which the absorbed heat must be conducted, hence it runs "cooler" than a plug with a higher heat rating. There is often the misconception that colder plugs make more power – this is not necessarily so. What a cold plug will do is last longer under high-load conditions (e.g., WOT) than a hot one. It does this by better conduction of heat leading to longer life of the electrodes which lead to less gap erosion leading to more consistent sparking. A hot plug is most often recommended for engines that idle frequently and for long periods or operate at low-load, low speed. A hot plug in a boosted engine not only would not last long but could also contribute to engine damage due to pre-ignition if the spark plug begins to glow.

Here's a nice read: http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinfo/spark_plugs/overviewp2.asp

can't really understand what ya saying bro..but whatever it is..I need the luck.

This time, I take everything Slow and carefully.
Everything should be fine.
Except one spot where I messed up. (worrying still)

WHen I put the crank pulley back on (the pulley where the Alt/PS/AC belt goes on) I hammer it in a little until the screw is got a good enough grip to screw in the pulley. THen after a while, I realize and worry that those hammering might fuck up the Crank or main bearing or etc.... will they?

SO worried.

LOL...I don't doubt it at all.

I always try and remember so many years back when I didn't know shit. But by the same token, WHEN that was the case, I didn't have at my disposal the search capability we do NOW. Back then, it was either be ther ewhen it was discussed the first time, ask the question, or be SOL.

But I worked hella hard in helping to make changes to get the board here where we could build up a archive full of great information. Then discuss it and discuss it some more, some times repetitively to what we had at the old board. I STILL use the SEARCH option all the time now. I realize that research comes naturally to me, since I do a lot of it for my day job, but I URGE everyone to take advantage of it, so as not to completely piss everyone off and expose yourself to a complete newbie status. Plus, it will put you in the good graces of the board/moderators.

Nothing disgusts us more than a person asking such a mundane question that's been asked a MILLION times. It becomes SOOOOOO self-evident you hadn't even tried to search, you make it completely difficult to even justify an answer.

After a larger string of stupid 2gnt questions, I've decided to make an easy to fill out form. Feel free to fill in the blanks, or circle the word or phrase of your choice:

--------------------
Dear 2gnt,

Eye have a h4rd tyme spealing, tyeping, and du knot knoe whut a kibored iz 4. Now onto my <unnecessary / lame / assanine / stupid> question:

I own a <2gnt / 420a / kia> and am having a problem with my <spark plugs / engine / turbo / transmission / other> and I'm not able to <figure it out / figure anything out / breathe without the assistance of a machine / form complete sentences / keep from drooling on my computer / check my aol email>.

I apologize that I'm a <complete moron / idiot / total dumbass / asshole / stupid person>. It is not excusable, but I apologize <profusely / proudly / pompously / without remorse> and ask that you answer my question. Here it is:

<How do you gap spark plugs? / I heard that blow by was caused by gas vapors? / I think my muffler bearings are bad? / where can I pick up blinker fluid? / Wiseco's are a good deal, aren't they? / What are lug nuts?>

Please, I grovel before others with utmost respect, and ask that you do not ridicule me too much. This is the Internet, and I have no problem being a total and complete dumbass to thousands of people on this site. It's only because of Mototool that I am even able to make a request to answer a question with any dignity whatsoever. He owns me. I like him. I'd let him violate me on a daily basis, because I am meek.

Please answer my question.
<insert name here>
--------------------

See? Now you can easily ask questions to people, and get a response. emoji

Normally I disagree with Mototool's approach towards answering questions and sparking flames, but that has to be the best post I've seen in a year. That will have to be archived and linked to.

I bow down to Mototool, but allow no anal or other violations. I simply find that he is right more often than not and it is foolish to disagree with him. He might just be more badass than Dino.

Can you say future sig quote?

Gilee has been on this board long enough to know when to use the search button or to have seen this same post over and over again. I don't understand, what is so hard? He's just as worse as some the noobs on here. I'll tell you what Gilee, if you want, I can go all the way down to Stamford or Norwalk, wherever you are and I'll give you a class on how to use the search button. Use the FUCKEN SEARCH man or sell the fucken car. You come on here asking the same questions and when someone doesn't answer, you make another post about the same damn question. SEARCH!
