I don't understand whats going on. I filled my resevoir tank (because it was empty) to the "Full" mark. I drove all day yesterday and no overheating problems. I put the car in the garage and didn't notice anything. This morning I find a big puddle of coolent on the garage floor. Drove to school and now am out of coolent AGIAN!

WTF is going on? It seems to keep spitting it out the overflow and It doesn't stop. I'm not overheating or anything so whats going on?

are checking your level only based on the reservoir? don't do that. open the cap when it cools and check. i had a problem before with tubes to the overflow reservoir getting kinked. there was enough pressure to push the coolant into the reservoir when the engine heated up but then when it'd cool off the coolant coudn't flow back into the radiator piping b/c the tubing was kinked. so my reservoir was always full but my radiator was slowly getting drained. when i checked in the actual radiator and noticed it was low i filled it. however the tube was still kinked so the extra fluid i added just overflow out the reservoir when the car was running and never went back into the radiator.

just fyi the tube coming from the radiator piping should go all the way to the bottom of the overflow tank. that way when everything cools down it'll suck the coolant back into the radiator pipe. make sure the tube isn't kinked and it's tightly connected to the cap on the overflow reservoir.

How could it spit everything out? I'd understand if it bounced in and out of the tank but damn I've got a good cup of coolent on my garage floor and the tank is empty.

It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm going to change my thermostat hopefully over the weekend

I still don't see how a thermostat could cause this sort of issue. If the thermostat fail it "should" fail safe and run cold. If it stuck closed I'd be overheating.

How could it cause something wierd like this to happen?

Since I haven't changed it yet I might as well upgrade to a cooler running one

Is it bubbling? The coolant was shot out of your reservoir.

Dont jump to the conclusion of a blown HG, but could be a possibility.

Also replace the cap.

where's the coolant coming from? is it only from the overflow tube or is it from somewhere else on the cooling system as well? you don't necessarily hafta be overheating for it to overflow. do you have the right amount inside? are you checking the levels on the thank and in the pipe when everything's cold? are you sure tubes are hooked up right? coolant should only come out the tube when the reservoir tank is completely full...

you are booseted correct? I had the same problem with my car after driving it would spew the coolent out the overflow tube. I think the boost dosent help when the head gasket is blown. I too didnt notice any comming out just letting it idle I had to be driving it. If you have the mls gasket try retorqing the head. This stopped mine for a little while longer unitl I got arround to do ing the headgasket. Pick up a radiatior pressure checker. This will tell you if your hg is blown.
