I called HRC and they ran out of turbos for until next month. I need a 20g within the next week. Where is another good place to buy the same turbos?

well you might hit up mjmturbos.com and give that guy a ring hes got them. they are the typhoon turbine internally gated housing with the mitsubishi td06 20g compressor housing. Im sure if you refer to the application and mention "super 20g" he can figure it out.

Would a 25G be overkill? According to HRC the 25G spools at 4k RPM to 15psi. I am going to try and tune to 15-18 psi on 91 octane for daily driving, and 20-25psi with 100 octane or more. Anyway, any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Why is it an overkill? I've seen the size and I compare it to a FP3065. Spoolup is not a big factor since I have somewhat aggresive cams (crane 16's) and I am not a big fan of instant spool. You can always downshift to achieve that too when driving daily.

Sure, the potential to make above 500hp is there, but I dont see myself making that kind of power without a standalone system like AEM EMS or that Accel DFI and of course, bigger injectors.

Right now I have 440cc'c and the emanage to tune.

Besides cost, why would a 25G be an inconvinience(sp)? The web site says it bolts directly into out manifolds. That would be the major factor for me.

I believe you have to get slim radiator fans to make it fit. As far as overkill, I just dont see it really being needed.. but hey, it'd defiantely be cool emoji

Ah, the damn fans. I have a C&R radiator with a single Spal blade. I know it's not needed like you said, a 20g would do just fine. The thing is that HRC does not have any for until next month. I cannot wait that long! Hhehehe.

http://www.precisionte.com Ask for Patrick. You could source a turbo from a vendor for a little less, but you would have to wait. They should have something for you on the shelf.

Make sure you get the correct flange and wastegate. I think a PTE SC-50 would kick as over a S20G. Ask them about the exhaust wheel trim options and AR housings for that turbo. They will know what will work for your application if you tell them how much power you want to make, size of engine and how fast you want the turbo to spool.

I am skeptical or scared to bolt on a turbo that does nto bolt right up. Why? Let's just say I don't need more shit right now with my car. I havent been able to drive it for more than 10 months now, without fear of something breaking. LOL. Then there is the added cost of purchasing an external WG.

remember hahns turbos are SUPER 20g's meaning it has a garret t3 exhaust flange.

so you need a turbo that bolts up to a t3 flange.

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

You need a T3 flange on the exhaust side as well an internal wastegate. Basically any T3/T4 turbo should bolt right up as long as the bolt pattern is correct for the downpipe.

I would not steer you wrong!

I wish I could remove my AC. More space for power, but I live in the desert. I would have to be a track car only, with no room for comfort, LOL.

The S25G is nice, but if you're not building a drag car or a "freeway" car, I think it's a bit big for a daily driver. Even my S-20G doesn't "kick" in until the higher RPMs. Ultimately it's your decision, but a 20G should be sufficient for a street/drag car. Be patient;-) Then again, the huge compression inlet in the 25G looks nice, too:D

How would you define "daily driver"? Often people will choose a smaller yet effective turbo like a S16g because of its fast spool. It is like some of the 4g63 guys have an FP Red or green turbo, which does not spool as fast, and daily drive it. I define by "daily driver" as a car that cruises fine at low RPM's without flooding with gas and so the cars stutters and bogs. LIke mine does right now. It should have relativly good fuel economy keeping out of boost. With my current S16G I spool up right away. I spin the tires at 3k rpms on 1st and 2nd gear. I larger turbo will reduce this and give me the benefit of more HP. The only problem is that it might not fit direclty because of the radiator fan. HRC says it spools 15psi at low 4k RPM, I guess I can reduce that with my Crane 16 cams. Not bad if I am tunning for 15psi for daily driving and more for track time. Anyone else care to comment on possible problems?

I currently use the FMU with the 10:1 disk and 440cc injectors, I flood my engine and get shity fuel economy (100 miles on a tank). I am swapping to a SFMU as I had it originally to avoid this situation.

How much is the S25G anyways? Personally, I wouldn't spend more money on it, I'd just wait on the S20G or even the S16G, because you'll need the money elsewhere I am sure, and I doubt your gonna be actually "needing" the extra flow of the 25G anytime soon...

BTW, to the other guy, yea, you could remove the fan I suppose, but if your wanting to put toegether a monster 25g setup, you can afford slim fans.

Don't you guys think it would be better to get a TD06 turbine side w/ the 20g compressor? Can you get a TD06 w/ t3 type flanges? It seems like that would be a lot better than just slapping a 20g compressor housing onto a TD05. The TD06 turbine is a bit larger right?

Money is not an issue as a matter of fact. I have an extra 20G laying around, I am going to rebuild that one. The thing is that I did not want to wait for a month to get my car tuned. So I wanted to purchase another one and rebuild the other one to have it as a spare. The thing with the S16g is that is spools to damn fast and starts loosing power.

I guess I'll just wait, like they say, patience is a virtue. Thanks for all the info, tips, suggestions, etc. I'm calling HRC again to see if by chance one of the other 2 20g's did not go.

I just got a 20G from Hahn. Not sure wich one though. Guess I should find out. It's a big difference between the 16G and 20G on the stock bottom in spool up time. The 20G takes quite a bit longer and I have a test pipe and the XtremeRS 2.5" down pipe.

I guess that has a different meaning for different people. To me, a daily driver is a car that is pretty reliable in drivability, smoothness, and fairly fuel efficient. Typically, people who run BIG turbos tend to run a BIG fuel system, high boost (when needed), and a piggyback or standalone fuel control/ignition controller. Although you don't necessarily need those things to have the 25G bolted on, but to get the most out of big turbos, more fuel and high boost tend to go hand in han emoji

a big turbo fwd is much easier to drive around town thena small 16gish turboed fwd. because it takes so long to spool.

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

That is exactly what I mean by daily driver. You are right too motofool, the bigger turbo gives you the benefit (or not) of slower spool up time so you won't go around spinning the tires all the time. You can always achieve a faster spool up time by down shifting if you wish to impress some v8 guy or scare some lady witht he sound of the BOV, LOL.

BTW, I called HRC and they do not have the S20G-H, but they do have the regular S20G, that is just great news! Yeah!

True, true. If I had the extra cash when I bought my S-20G, I would've gotten the S-25G emoji
