ok, i just picked up dualgen2 turbo kit yesterday. i have searched and read for hours now on a couple things, but i'm still unclear about a few things. please answer anything you can. thanks

1. do i have to install the fmu between the tank and the stock fpr, or can i mount it right off of the fuel rail schrader valve right to the tank, i'm a little confused on it.

2. he had 370cc injectors, now i know the fmu does not allow you to adjust fuel pressure, i have read that you can't run larger injectors with the fmu, and please don't tell me to buy an s-fmu yet, i just spent the money on the kit. also how do i know what disk is in it, he was running very rich so i am assuming maybe the disk needs to be changed or it might have been already, i don't know, to use the 370 injectors.

3. i got an safc with the kit, would i be able to compensate for not having the sfmu with this for fuel pressure?

4. the needle on the egt gauge that came with it is sitting at about 1000 degrees, is it normal for the gauge to keep a value when it is unhooked or should it go back to 0, it is an autometer gauge, or do i need a new gauge?

i might think of many others and i plan on installing next friday, so hopefully some people will be on during the install if i need help.

no, i dont even think the safc can - out enought fuel with running the bigger injectors

you will need to buy a sfmu. thats all about that.

you have to install in the return line i think, and leave the stock fpr in place.

and the egt gauge thing is normal.

cause dave has no idea, he didn't put it in and told me had no idea about fuel tuning.

That's wrong. The FMU came originally with all Star turbo kits and with a preset rise rate of 12:1. People have been upgrading their stock injectors on Star kits for a long time. They would use the SAFC to modify the MAP signal so that the ECU would deliver less fuel when needed EVEN at idle. With an AFC you can upgrade up to 440cc/min injectors and still be able to idle just fine without changing the stock fuel pressure. You would also need to change out the disc in the FMU to change the rise rate of the FMU under boost conditions. I'm sure the proper disc is already in the FMU if Dave was running this setup. People have been using this setup on Star kits for YEARS.

Also the FMU needs to be mounted on the fuel return line between the regulator and the tank. If you have a 96+ then it will need to be mounted under where the rear seats are or underneath by the tank. If you have a 95 car then if can be mounted in the engine bay because the regulator is on the rail.

yeah, when i had 36lb injectors(370cc), i used the 6:1 disk and SAFC. it was stil kinda rich, i had to lean it out about to -25 on idle to idle perfect and no smoke coming out of the exhaust. so ask that dude if that;s the correct disk, if that's so, you're fine. also wondering if you have the missing link, 'cause you're gonna have MAP problems without it.

i have the voltage clamp that came with the star kit, is this ok? i don't see why not. also, how do i know what disk is in the fmu? color, size?

i also am looking at replacing the stock fpr with an aftermarket adjustable, would this be ok and allow me to use the safc less?

Uhh, I don't think you need to mount the fmu under the seat. As long as it's inline, on the return side... you can mount it pretty much wherever.

ok 2 questions i still have unanswered yet. how do i tell what disk is in the fmu? where exactly does the fmu have to be mounted, not engine bay or under car, but where in the fuel system? do i have to remove the return line off of the fpr or can i tee into it? here is my plan, mount the fmu under the hood on the firewall, run a line from the schrader valve to the fmu, then run a return line back and tee it into the return line of the fpr. is this ok?

Umm, do you even know how the return looks on 96+ car. It's about 2ft. in length, runs from the FPR location (which is mounted right next to the tank at the BACK of the car) up around the tank to the top of the fuel pump assembly ... which is under the little metal under the rear seats. Now unless you completely rerun the return there are only two places you can access to put in the return ... by the FPR under the car or right where it goes back into the tank. I don't mean to sound harsh but I felt you were attacking my knowledge and trust me I know what the heck I'm talking about.

The FMU needs to be mounted on the return line like Cereal5 said. The return line comes from the regulator return port to the return port on the tank. Since you are putting in an aftermarket regulator you first need to remove the stock regulator. Since you are a 98 the regulator is under the car by the tank on the passenger side. It is attached the the fuel filter. The current return only runs from the stock fpr to the tank. If you plan on having your new FPR in the engine bay (you should) you will need to run a new return from the engine bay back to the tank. So your new fuel system will look like this ...

In tank Fuel Pump -> fuel filter -> fuel rail -> inlet on new FPR in engine bay -> outlet on FPR in engine bay (done internally in FPR) -> FMU in engine bay-> return on tank

I think this is the best solution (and actually the same one I run). Just remember you have to remove the stock FPR before installing your new one.

Noseclipse, I'd also would like to recommend that you buy a hard fuel line to run under the car, then connect the hard line to the tank with a regular fuel injection hose and clamp (as used in HRC's fuel kit.)

Sorry I couldn't help. I feel dumb. What was I thinking when I went turbo and didn't know enough about well umm anything. I just wanted a faster car. Stupid me, o well. Good luck w/ the install and everything Mike.
