#63780, "I/C piping 2", throttle body 60mm...restriction?"
I just installed my MP 60mm T/B and I had to replace my coupling because it wouldn't fit. My intercooler piping is 2" (50mm) and now my T/B is at 60mm would that be a restriction? Should I have part of my pipe go to 60mm before it hits the T/B? THanks Alvin

HRC does that with its piping. It starts out at about 2" from compressor to I/C. After the I/C however, it's all 2.25".

Just as ^^ post, you'd benefit more from the 60mm with a bigger i/c outlet to the t/b pipe. Just an example, from the turbo to the i/c inlet, mine is 2.25"; i/c outlet to throttle body, is 2.50"

When I had my piping done they chopped off the Star Stage I pipe right below the battery, near the ECU so I have a coupling attaching it to the rest of the piping. Do you think I should make that elbow 2.25 (which is about a foot long) instead of leaving it 2" and getting a larger coupling for the T/B? thanks Alvin

one of the reasons why the HRC pipes get larger is for the same reason that idealy, exhaust systems get progressively larger as they go back. as gasses cool off they expand and need a larger pipe to maintain the same veolcity.
after intake air goes through the intercooler it's definately a lot colder, so the outlet pipe needs to be larger to keep the veolcity up. this is along the same philosophy of getting a 3" cat-back after a catalytic converter/downpipe which smaller than 3".

actually, as pipes get larger, the velocity decreases, however there is less friction with parger pipes. when you take a pump and put a pipe on it, depending on the pipe diam the velocity could be extremely high, (in the case of a 1/2 or smaller pipe) or really slow (3' or bigger) the larger pipe helps as there is less friction for the air moving, also, air goes from high to low pressure. increas in pipe will help air move along some, while reducing friction.
