like pistons, crank, flywheel, etc. I got all my stuff "balanced" but the motor was all apart. what actualy happens when shit gets balanced? i understand whats going on when its all together as one unit, when its all bolted up, but im lost on the balancing of individual parts!! please exlpain.

Piece of cake. Not all parts are cast to the same weight, so rods and cranks and everything else is assembled on a machine and parts are ground down until the weights (in case of rods) are all the same essentially. Not necessarily in that order, but the purpose is to make the rotating assem. balanced and the result is less parasitic draw in order to spin the parts. Sorry that this is like a cluster-f*ck post since I'm tired.

Perfect! thank you! i kinda thought that but couldnt get a definate answer. So once everything is together, because each individual peice was balanced,it should be balanced as a whole unit! cool thanks!

actually it's checked and measured on a machine. I've had it done when I could afford it to every motor I've assembled. Well worth it. It just makes everything smooth, in some cases on BB Chevy's the idle got better.
