#63512, "High EGT's, injectors, HELP WANTED"

Ever since I turboed my 98 GS AUTO (stage 1 HRC), I've had high EGT's and I've never really been able to get on it WOT. The EGT's shoot up like crazy.

For example, when I'm just driving REGULARLY around town, the EGT's will be at like 1400... that's cruising!! And if I go WOT they immediately jump passed 1600 easily and i IMMEDIATELY let off.

The fuel pump is screaming loudly so I know that's working fine... never touched it anyway after installing HRC kit. I also have the SFMU with the stiff spring and largest disk.

I had the fuel pressures at like 40-45 and this happened. Now i have it at 50PSI and the same problem continues. I do not increase it because I don't want afterburn.

I had a temporary SMIC (1G) hooked up and it helped the EGT's when left at 5 PSI, but when I turned it up to 7 PSI I experienced the previous problem. (AND YES I DID play with the fuel to compensate for more air coming in)

Here are my theories:

1) It's not a matter of intercooling since at 7-8 PSI Side mount intercooled produced the same problems

2)I believe I may need new injectors. Bascially I think my stock injectors are just dying since they were never meant to see boost and may just be weak to begin with (even before the turbo install)

Now I bought 30 pound injectors and those are going in this week. Hopefully they work BUT.....
Let's say it DOESN'T work, what else should I check for???

HAS anyone else had problems with EGT's with stock injectors? Did bigger injectors help?

Thanks for any info!!

Do you have a rising rate regulator capable of suppling a greater than 1:1 rise rate (on stockers we are looking for a 10:1 rate AT LEAST)? What FPR are you using currently? It defintely sounds like you don't have enough fuel. Also, since you mentioned that you turned up your fuel pressure to 50psi you can't have a stock FPR. If you have a FPR that is only 1:1 you'll need something that has a larger rise rate.

How about dirty injectors? I am on 5 psi, non intercooled, stock injectors, yet my egts are fine. Did you run injector cleaner before you boosted, because that is what I did.

Disregard most of my previous post (I didn't read). What is your full boost fuel pressure?
