#63303, "Fuel Cut - Bad ML?"

I don't get it man, I've never had a problem before. Now every once in a while (lucky if twice a week) I'll get fuel cut. Only happens when I've got it floored with 5+psi of boost.

Something wrong with my missing link? It seems to be happening more often.

Isn't fuel cut a REALLY BAD thing to have under boost? Something about pulling fuel while on 5+psi just doesn't do it for m emoji

I should quit playin around and just go fuel stand-alon emoji

what do you mean "fuel stand-alone"? would that fix it? I think the computer will still sense the pressure change with the ML, and therefore trigger fuel cut–am i right?

were exactly would I clean the ML? The little breather port hole on the side?

maybe because of the crappy weather. seems like a lot of ML are having fuel cut issues since cold weather has hit.

it's probably dirty, but still, fuel cut isn't really bad, i mean the fuel is just getting totally cut, it's not like it's being leaned out slowly or anything.

Cool, I'll probably mess with it Sunday morning, I'll let you guys know if I have any issues.

I don't see why it would be dirty.

I don't have EGR or PCV going into my manifold. It should all be squeeky clean

What I mean by that is. It isn't attached to my manifold. I have both of those attached to my "catch can emoji

This way I don't have anything other than clean pressurized air in my intake manifol emoji

Yeah this PCV argument went on forever. I myself have sided with saying that you don't need one. It just does not make sense why you need that stupid thing hooked up to the manifold. Catch can works fine.

well, in theory it's better to always have as much vacuum pressure in the crankcase as possible in order to get the vapors out ASAP to keep gaskets in good condition longer, reduce minor oil leaks, reduce the overall gunk level.

then again, it's also a good thing to have a well-sealed intake manifold, but the PCV valve does this job quite well.

i still have my PCV valve in there hooked up to the manifold, and recently i got rid of my catch can. IMO catch cans are gizmos that you don't really need... if you really need a catch because it keeps filling up then there is something wrong with your engine. i had my catch can (small pescription bottle with a filter on the top) on for over a year and it NEVER fills up. the most oil i ever saw in it was about 1/4" of oil after my first test-drive with the new engine.

the driver's side crankcase breather thingy now goes to the HRC filter, where HRC intended it to go. having it here probably creates a small amount of vacuum in the crankcase (because the engine is now trying to suck most of the air through the main air filter, and a small amount of air out of the crankcase) even in boost.
