now, mind you i've tried the various fixes for the missinglink. So far, no solution yet, but at least I know why.

when i am away at school (my car goes with me of course), my car is parked out doors in the cold. So, when I go into boost slowly, at 1 psi, I will get the infamous jerk, of the fuel cut. WHen I mash the throttle, I don't get fuel cut. My theory is that the cold weather and being exposed for days in cold night makes the missinglink LESS effective in slight manifold pressure increase (0psi to 1 psi).

So you are wondering what is my point? When I drove home (380 miles) for the first time, guess what, I got fuel cut going into momentary boost for the first 200 miles. After that, the issue did not bother me at all; for the next 3 weeks that is. During Christmas vacation, I drove my car every day (like I did at school), BUUUTTT my car slept in the safety of the my warm, enclosed GARAGE. NOT ONCE DID I GET FUEL CUT, NOR ANY CEL!!!!!!!!!

When I come back to school, I am again parked on the outside of the road overnight, the second day parked outside, HELLO FUEL CUT and CEL.

Anyway, yes my car is parked outside right now, and when I drive, I get fuel cut here and there at 0-1psi.

I don't think there really is a cure for this other than parking in a garage at night. Any thoughts? I am interested if you all get fuel cut like I do when I am partially into boost, and if your car is parked outdoors at night.

recently i've been thinking the same thing. i live in the northeast and the outside tempatures haven't risen above 15 degrees for the past week or so. the missing link definately "feels" less responsive until i've beat it by going back and forth around 0 psi for a good 10 or 15 minutes, then it's 100% fine until i park the car and let it cool off.

however, i had the same problem over the summer and it was above 80 degrees every day.

you tell me.

this missing link problem that only a few of us have really pisses me off. it doesn't make any sense at all. some days it depends on the weather, the humidity, the period of time since i last took it off and dumped WD-40 in it, whatever.

bottom line is that i will be contacting Synapse Engineering shortly and i'm going to make them give me a brand new one. one of the redesigned ones. yeah, that would be nice, not to have to deal with fuel cut EVERY TIME I PASS 0 PSI.

that is all.

Hmmm, I think you got a pretty good theory about the outside temp's effect on the ML. However, I don't think it affects the performance of the ML directly. I believe the cold outside temp reduces the coolant temp, thickens engine oil, and possibly contributes to moisture buildup in the fuel system. As a result, when your car is parked outside in the cold, it would take longer for the engine to warm up and reach operating temp. If the engine doesn't reach operating temp, the car runs richer, which could affect light load acceleration (or transitions into boost)--thus the "jerkiness." It's also possible that the cold affects the physical characteristics of the aluminum casing of the ML ("shrinks" the ML housing a hair.) That's my theory to your theor emoji emoji

you may also want to think about how metal expands and contracts when it is cold/warm. the ML may be getting cold enough to let a little air in which will screw up the purpose of said ML. emoji not that my theory explains why it doesnt happen on WOT runs. it is not like a throttle plate or anything that will slap shut or seal when under heavy load. oh well, another diceman theory flopped by the man himself....

This is a good theory. My car had a fuel cut for the first time since the ML, Also has not done it since. IT was at 1AM and it was COLD.

I dont get fuel cut.... and I dont use a missing link.

Just a simple circuit to limit the MAP voltage is all it takes... Like what the hahn FCD is supposed to do... only mine works....

I can go from vacuum to 19psi as slow or as fast as I like (So long as shes warmed up) and I have ZERO fuel cut problems...

But... the choice of components and cut point is VERY important... emoji

mrslick: where did you get this fcd that your using. Impart us with your knowledge.

Well I have had missing link problems as well, but I am in hawaii so I don't think its a temp thing, humidity maybe. I have another one on the way because mine only works about half of the time, I just assumed it was just a bad unit as there are so many others that work perfectly.

you may want to market them to us. emoji if it works better than the ML and doesnt have little quirks (like having to pull it off and clean it) you may have a potentially large market of buyers. emoji here is my saying though if you do. make a good product, people will tell their friends, make a bad product, people will tell their friends, family, and everyone else that will listen. emoji

There's not much to it really... just a diode and a resistor... but its the values that you pick that are important... emoji

I had my head electrical engineer at work pick the values with me... haha.
