#62856, "So who's running FTY's 2.2l stroker?"

If you're running it what do you think about it? Is it worth the price over the 2.0 rebuild? I have over $2,500 saved up for my rebuild and am starting to shop for a used block. I should be set with the money by the end of January and am getting really anxious (can't wait for 12+ psi!). Any impressions or recommendations would help. I'm trying to decide if the extra money is worth it for me. I'm not a big track guy I just want something I'll enjoy driving.

I would have got it but they weren't making it when I got my motor from them. The price is high because they use a custom forged crank! It can hold a massive amount of hp.

I know that's why I'm sooo drawn to it. I heard this thing can handle 9000rpms! I just can't decide if the extra $$ is worth it for me.

I'd like to get people's impressions of it installed, but I haven't seen a post yet. emoji

An upgraded bottom end isn't the only requirement to hold 9,000 rpms. Keep in mind that your stock valve train will not take that kind of abuse.

If I did go with the 2.2l I planned on rebuilding the head completely also. What else would need to be done to make a high revving 2.2? Keep in mind I am a newb in training and plan on doing TONS of research before I make my final decision.

you will need new valve springs to keep the valve from floating, new valve to keep from mushrooming the stock ones, new titanium retainers to keep everything from from falling apart (and save some weight) and to finish it all off. A good port and polish so you can take advantage of those extra revs.

Now, to allow you to rev that high you will need to go stand alone tho

First determine what you building this project for. If you want a full race car go ahead. Personaly, I would build a 2.4L block and swap that in. I know someone is bound to start making a 2.4L swap kit.

If not I'll need to get working on this kit with Tunerwork emoji

The reason that you aren't finding anyone with the brand new custom forged crank 2.2l is because it is a new product. FTY just started offering this option about 3 months ago. Also, remember that this is a true 2.2l (actually slightly higher) unlike every other 2.2 out there which is closer to a 2.15 (convieniently rounded up).

There are a lot of different opinions about which is better: the 2.0, 2.2 or 2.4. One recent post that I know of is this one: http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=62034&mode=full. I'm sure you can find many more, but this one is recent enough for me to remember. emoji
