#6269, "fuel pressure?...intercooled with 5psi actuator.."

I opted for the 5psi wastegate actuator, even though I have a stage 2 (HRC), can't be too careful in my book. Anyway, the installation manual recommends 80-90psi of fuel pressure at WOT for the non-intercooled system at 5psi, would that be the same for my 5psi intercooled system?

Thanks-

Although you have an intercooled stage II system, the fuel pressure at WOT should still be at 80-90psi, since you are still running at 5 psi of boost--like you said, just to be safe. Any other thoughts about this?

i'd say it would be about the same fuel pressure either way. you're still gonna have 5psi in the manifold cuz that's where your actuator is getting it's pressure signal from, right? the only difference is gonna be the temperature of the intake charge air. it'll be lower because of the intercooler so that means it's denser. denser air generally requires more fuel. on the flip-side... without the intercooler the air would be hotter and benefits from a little more fuel to help prevent detonation and that was taken into consideration in recommending the fuel pressure in the first place. so i think it all balances out.

Only real way would be to get it on a dyno. I think your going to find your optimal will be a little lower. I would run it at the suggested pressure until you have it checked out for sure.
Your intake temps are going to be lower, so detonation will be less fo a concern, so you SHOULD be able to run lower FP.

Point well taken Wyatt, I'd rather run a little rich and kill my cat, than run lean and melt a couple pistons. Until I can get hooked up with an AFC, I'll shoot for the 80-90psi range.

Thanks
