I have a star setup w/ a T3/T4 w/ a blown oil seal .I have found a T3 factory rebuild for $200 .Now I figured it will all bolt up but it has water line.Do I need to hook those up and where or can I cap them off like Haun does for the 16g.What other problems might I run into? BTW its off of a Saab.

did you just get the rebuild kit or are you usging a saab t3 turbo cartridge?

if its the cartridge those wheels are most likly differenet sizes and flow WAY less then the normal star turbo

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

For $200 I get the whole turbo that was rebuilt for the skip barber team down here then given to one of the local salvage yards he said it was for one of the saabs they used to use but stoped using and had no use for it anymore.Ive been buying parts for him through the car dealer that I used to work for so hes hooking me up I think what would one of these go for new w/ wastegate? And on the side is lowering springs and struts off a car worth $100 ?

the turbo may put out 7psi but 7psi from that small saab turbo is NOT the same as 7psi from the much larger star turbo.

the turbine housing is also different with a propriotary saab downpipe flange.

The wastegate comes off its bolted to the flange. The flange is the same as the t3/t4 it Will bolt up to my setup its all the same Im just woried about the water lines but Darkone said to cap em off but w/ what I wonder? I just want to know If $200 is a good price for a factory rebuilt turbo? (because my t3/t4 has blown oil seals and needs a rebuild and god knows what else im no turbo balance tech. It basically comes down to $)besides I'm just putting this kit on my car to make it fun to drive at like 5-7 psi Im not going all out to make some screamer that will pop my stock rods and then be dumping like 2000 more into it for the rods pistons and fuel setup to run more I just want a lil more and Im askin If theres any problems w/ the turbo I know it wont put out as much cfm I just want to know If theres any problems other than that and If its worth the money or if I could buy one else where for cheaper. Thank you

Cap 'em off, leave 'em open, doesn't really matter. You could use a brass plug, or just leave them open to the world.. if you're not putting coolant IN, you're not going to have coolant coming OUT, are you?

the only problem i forsee is if your putting that turbo cartridge in the star turbine housing and star compressor the wheels are the prong size for the housings if you just bolt on the saab turbo it should work fine

That was what I was planing on doing. But when I pulled the towel out of the intake side and spun the turbo it was hard to turn it spins but its ruff ...now its been sitin on the shelf for a while but hasnt been used since its been rebuilt, Is it still any good. Is it worth $200 or should I just buy a rebuild kit for my t3/t4 ($100) and try to do it my self emoji
