Ok well I got my car running AGAIN!!! (stupid @*#$*&%$ piece of @#*$@# good for nothing @*#$*@# car). I replaced my previous fuel setup from my Aeromotive 1:1 and Vortech FMU to a Chill Factory FMU to be able to adjust my idle FP lower on my 42lb/hr injector (or at least they are supposed to be that size). Ok well after I change all this crap out I burn up my o2 (running rich) ... now I can't get the car to stay running without my foot on the gas so crap. Order a new o2.
Fast forward to now. I got my new o2 and replaced it (good lord the old o2 was a black burnt piece of shit). Anyway, I have my idle FP 16psi. This SHOULD mean that the trims that the ECU will have will be close to 0. WRONG!!!! -25% STFT and -25% LTFT!!! What the hell and yes it was running in closed loop and the STFT was moving around. So I use the afc to get some reasonable numbers for the fuel trims ... -30% at idle ... STFT -5% to -10% and LTFT -15% to -20%. I'm still stuck with a Fuel System rich code ... I'm sure it will go away. I even have to lean out my high throttle settings or it will bog when I get on it.
Anyway, I'm not out of my mind when I say these are defintely acting like 42lb/hr injectors right ... maybe closer to 50lb/hr but I can't say with out getting them flow balanced. Now when I bought them I bought 42lb/hr Lucas injectors ... maybe they sent me the wrong injectors. Any thoughts?

hmm. i just got my car running with 400cc injects thura. i think between 16-18 psi on those i was seeing a STFT of -5 to -7. they are ford injects though and i hear they dont like low pressures only a sfmu controlling them.
my car wants to die if i dont keep the gas on it as well. i think thats because my timing may be off a tooth or so DOH!!!!

Did they say what pressure they were rated at? Some companies have been getting funny with thier injectors. For example chrysler is now rating thier injectors at ~56 psi.

don't be afraid to lower your idle fuel pressure. some say that it's "bad" to have a very low idle pressure, IMO these people don't know what they are talking about.
my engine is very happy with +-5% fuel trims with 11 psi of idle pressure according to a mechanical gauge and my eletric autometer gauge. my car is also very happy at just about any manifold pressure that you can think of, from full vacuum to 1.0-1.2 bar of boost. i have a S-FMU and 415 cc/min injectors (about 40-42 lb/hr) and my car idles at -480 to -500 kpa. that's about -17" of mecury. by the way, i don't have an AFC.

Nate, it's not "BAD" to have low fuel pressure but the lower the fuel pressure does no promote fuel atomization when leaving the injector. Now most people think this is only at idle but remember at cruise you are most likely at vacuum which means you are running that low fuel pressure. Now as far as I know the only results from running that low fuel pressure is bad/unsmooth idle and engine running. I don't believe that it will lead to catastrophic failure. Also, every major literature I've read on setting FP (from Stand Alone manuals, FPR instructions, injector sizing FAQs, etc) have all stated this so I'm pretty sure they know what they are talking about.
That being said I may lower my FP down to 14psi but right now it isn't really my concern as long as neither of my fuel trims are maxed out at -25%. Just damn strange that these 42lb/hr (441cc/min ... lb/hr to cc/min is lb/hr * 10.5 = cc/min) are running so rich. But if they are bigger that means more supported boost .
Oh these were the specs for the injectors I ordered rated at 43.5psi like most injectors.
Static Flow Rate: 42.29 lb/hr @ 43.5PSI (300kPa) or 320gm/min Dynamic Flow Rate: 9.96 gm/pulse - 2.5ms pulse width and 10ms repetition rate Coil Resistance: 15.9 Ohms / High Impedance / High-Z (No ECM driver modifications required)
