More clearance gives more room for piston expantion. People running like 30 psi will usually go a little bigger to allow the piston to expand under the extra heat. Remember the bigger you bore the more piston slap you have. I had a motor that had so much clearance the piston slap never went away! Mabye after a long drive on the highway it would go way, but then after idleing for a while it would come back. Piston slap is annoying as hell.
I'm no expert, but I think .004 is a bit much. Msg vtcomp and ask them what they do. They built my block and I only get a little slap in the morning, and I have run 20 psi on it.

you did not have the block bored before you got the pistons did you?
are you honing it out to get proper ptb clearances?
You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
