#61674, "Downpipe Leak question"

I am boosting now, will out any problems, but have a question. In 1st gear i go up to 5psi and then 2 and 2rd gear i get the boost i have set which is 7psi. I have a big leak around my downpipe connection to the turbo b/c it is just a custom one. Also, i spool up very late like around 4000rpm with my super 16G. That is the only leak i have. Fuel is good, and ic pipe is all connected tight. What could cause my late spool up and only getting 5 and not 7psi in first. I will be installing the hrc 2.5 hrc downpipe i bought from XtremeRs this week, so just wondering what is my leak causing. Thanks

do you have an IC? you could get pressure drop from an IC.
Also if you have a leak at your DP, depending on where it is, it essentialy acts as a partialy open wastegate by allowing your exhaust to bleed out before putting all its force behind spinning the turbine!

leak=power loss!

USED TO HAVE...Everything you wish you had, and then some...

IMO take things one at a time and see if this is the problem. Which im 85 percent sure it is your downpipe. I used to have an exhaust manifold leak and I felt some nice power loss when i had my stage 2 turbo. ICs dont drop that much psi. Unless its really a bad one

Thanks guys, i appreciate the suggestions. I do have a front mount intercooler. I was also thinking about the leak being like an open wastegate but wasnt sure. I am still learning more about turboing our cars. Hey powereclipse, like the car with the cf hood. My car looks just like yours except it has projectors and gunmetal rims.
