After 7 months of downtime, I test drove the car and the car spiked to 12 psi. I dont know why it spiked, i think the wastegate is fubar. Well, right now I think I'm not going to mess with it until the summer, so I can concentrate on school first, and save up for a rebuild, intercooler, and other goodies.

I wish you a smooth break-in and happy driving.

that really really sucks man emoji it was probably the wastegate actuator. rip it apart and do a autopsy, what went first?

I have an external wastegate. I think the piston rings went first, cuz i hear some tinkering (piston knocking on cylinder wall?)

i say, check your plugs. make make sure the wg is good.

and, the number are kinda low, try adding oil into the cylinder. and then do a comp. test. if the numbers go up, its the rings. if they stay the same. its the gasket going.

I think cracked ring lands would put him down below 80 psi. 160 is still high, just a little ring seal issue. Mabye you cracked a ring slightly.

It's cracked IMO. That's 11% difference in compression numbers. emoji

I drove for 20k miles on cracked ringlands, with those same compression numbers. I broke 2 more pistons before I called it quits. Anyways he already hears problems, his ECU already sees problems, he has all the symptoms. Park it now and rebuild, it'll be cheaper in the long run.

Edit: If you really want to be sure, pop out the dipstick and feel for tiny puffs of air or wisps of smoke coming out of the dipstick tube. Also if you have a catchcan, look for more oil than usual spewing out the breather vent while boosting. (You can kick a good quart of oil out the breather in about 10 seconds boosting 12psi with 3 broken pistons- good times emoji)
