Well, spent part of the day with Len removing the Vortech and installing the Chill Factory unit. I'm good with fuel till 18ish PSI of boost. For the first time my car is running the way I intended it to.

Thanks Len!

The dyno day this spring sounds great.

Doesn't the Chill Factory FPR use the same sort of technology as the Vortech with the disks and bleeder valve?

Well, the rate of gain on the Chill Factory unit is variable. So you can start with say a 3:1 and at max boost have 5:1 rate of gain

Check out the sight for more info-> http://www.chillfactory.us/regulator.html

no, the placement of the star turbo vs the hrc turbo is several inches different; the exahust outlet to the dp is also different.

Len did all the tuning of my system.

Once tuned you don't have to mess with it anymore. I love it.

I don't need to touch my fuel system until I make more mods or fine tune it with a wideband/dyno.

If you have an questions you can give Len a call at (847)468-9514 or check out the site at www.chillfactory.us

Current mods-
8.8 comp ratio, ported/polished head. Stock cams and cam timing. T3 turbo with 5-(now I've hit 11.5psi). MSD fuel pump with Chill Factory FPR and Ford Motorsports 42LB injectors.

I had to buy extra rings to pull down the fuel pressure a little more. I can't remember off the top of my head the exact rate ring i'm using right now. I'll find out tho

brian howz that turbo spooling for ya now still pretty quickly?

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

I got to ride in Brian's car, and the turbo is instantly in boost at the blip of the throttle. Great for autocross or drifting.
The auto tranny has held up so far, but it makes me nervous though.

Ya, she's in boost well below 3K. On the expressway I'll hit 5+ psi at around 2400-2500RPM.

Now that I have my A/F ratio's into just right instead of (keep eatin till your ass is black rich) she's pulling much better and so far my gas mileage seems to be back to what it was BEFORE BOOST!

I'm down to half a tank and already have 150mi on the trip meter! SWEET! As long as I'm not constantly boost (<-LMAO) I'll save on gas agian.

Hey i got a question for you. I dunno if you have messed with the internals of the new regulator, but how do they go about making the rise rate variable? like what mechanism does this? is there a possibility you could enlighten us. if it is really as adjustable as it seems i'm willing to ditch my vortech and drop this in to support len and chill factory.

I'm guessing it has to be a variable rate spring. Of course I will know better after I get mine today.

To be honest with you I don't know. If I did know I wouldn't want to give away any secrets Len has. Sorry guys

I like it. It seems to run flawlessly on his car. Why mess with a good thing?

Next year I'll be intercooled and tuned to somewere around 17-18 psi daily (I would do 20+ but I don't wanna blow my trans...agian)

I will have it tuned (maybe sidemount intercooled) for the next IL 2GNT Meet

Whats so wrong with using the Vortech? That thing is so versitle, and holds rock solid pressures. Only thing you will ever need IMO. The CF regulator looks like a glorified SFMU..from the description, it works just like the SFMU.

So can we use this with the stock fpr, or do we have to remove it?

You can use it with or without another regulator. I believe if you use another regulator it will keep your idle to full vac fuel pressure from changing. Then once the unit sees boost it will begin stepping up fuel pressure.

The Vortech S-FMU can only step up fuel pressure at a single ratio, say 4:1 from 0-full boost.

The Chill Factory unit can start at say a 2:1 ratio at 0psi of boost and at max boost have a ratio of 4:1. This way your fuel pressure isn't a straight line like the S-FMU. The Chill Factory unit increases fuel pressure exponentially (steep CURVED fuel pressure line)

This unit is every bit as versitile as the Vortech Unit except with a better fuel curve.

Did I mention how much smaller it is? I can't get over what a hole I have in my engine bay now emoji

I think I will be going with one of these now. Since I have a stock fuel system right now, if I wanna use my OE fpr with this, what do I have to do to my fuel system before the fuel rail? Do I still do it like the right up on the mods page or do I just have to replace the return line and leave everything else alone?

Another part worth mentioning is the PRICE. Cheaper then the Vortech SFMU, which is always a good thing.
