#6150, "IC piping question"

this may seem stupid but i was thinking. i remeber someone telling me that the Iceman CAI was better than the AEM cause it's made of plastic so it doesn't hold heat like metal does. what if someone made IC lines out of plastic or something like that? wouldn't it cause lower air temps therefore allowing more boost???? opinions?

I think it would expand or worse melt under heavy boost (but then again dont many factory cars come with plastic piping. then again isn't taht one of the 1rst things changed)

Yep, one of the first upgrades for 2G 4G63s is changing the IC pipes to metal. The plastic ones just don't cut it...especially with 15+psi. Not sure about melting, but apparently once you get high boost for long periods of time, the plastic starts to warp. 1Gs came with metal IC pipes, so they are rarely upgraded.
