Ok my friends car is having a problem.
Its a 97RS-T with a custom kit. IT has the missing link version 2 for a fcd.
Ok heres the problem when u start the car it wants to die. It stutters and then shuts off, but if u give it gas at first it will start up and be ok. it then idle fine but if u dont it will die on u. Also it feels like there is fuel cut around 4. It kind of smells rich and was back firing when he shifted.
We took it to get the codes checked there were 5 but it could only read one for some reason
the codes that we know of are 1) Egr "we removed it and put on blocking plates) 2) Evap system also removed, 3) No rear oxygen sensor. i dont know what the others r and the maching around here to test r messed up
*It started when he had the black box from my star kit on it but we replaced that with the missing link 2
* New plugs r in it gaped at .035 tryed factory and one range colder seemed to run better with factory
* plugs wires r not that old either less then 5,000 on them
* tryed a new map sensor but still the same thing didnt help it any.
Car is equiped with a safc but there has been no tunning done with it and connections r soldered in.
Also dont know if u will need this but it has a walboro 255 with a vortec fmu with the 12:1 disc and stock injectors
thanks any help would be great

you don't have a rear 02 sensor??? you removed it? that could be it imo. car probably doesn't know how much fuel to dump.

What is your fuel pressure? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If not, then get one now. That could be your problem...to much fuel pressure

I'm pretty sure your ECU bases it's fuel trims off of the first O2 sensor only.

did you say you did hook up a fuel press. gauge? if you did then what was the reading on it?
the rear o2 sensor will not give you those problems... I have had mine unplugged for a while now.

Just to clear this up for you guys, the rear o2 is to check the efficency of the Cat. It has nothing to do with fuel trims or anything else relating to how the engine runs. If it sences a problem, it will shoot you a cel to let you know. THATS IT.
