what title says ^ where the hrc dp and stock pipe join, keeps coming apart. wanted to get it welded, but the guy at the local muff shop says he cant weld the 2 together?(if the hrc pipe is alum.) and im done trying the friggin clamps. they suck. car runs like poo, need a solution.....

No exhaust pipes are aluminum on real cars (only on nitro RC cars). However, you will find aluminumized mild steel pipes. That is just an anti-corrosive coating on the steel. The stock pipe is stainless steel. I believe that the HRC pipe is a coated mild steel. My HRC DP is welded to my stock pipe. I'd recommend that over the clamp method.

alright..... got it spot welded. the stock pipe was cut weird so he said, so he welded it so it wouldnt come apart. but i still have a huge leak, and its making my o2 sensor freak out, so it still runs like shit, but better than before. so..... basically, its not coming off, but still leaks.
would the weird o2 readings cause my car to run drunk? like advance/retard? mess with my fuel? detonate easier?

A spot weld won't do it. You'll have to weld all the way around the joint to seal the pipes together. Its got to be air tight or you will get bad O2 readings.

I wouldn't boost until you got it fixed. It should only mess with the fuel. It will make you run slightly rich or lean (not sure which). You should have no problem driving to the shop to get it fixed.

Since you are still having issues with your exhaust, you may want to ask your mechanic to put a flange on the end of the HRC pipe and the stock exhaust downpipe. Having a flange allows you to access areas of the car without having to take off the whole downpipe. I can also see a problem with getting the HRC pipe off of the 3rd bolt with a one piece downpipe.
Here's a picture of the work my mechanic did. Make sure you grind off the coating on the downpipe to allow for a good weld. My mechanic did a great job and only charged me for the flange (of course I was having my engine swapped at the time also)
A leaking exhaust will cause you to run richer. o2 sensor will see more air and force the ECU to dump more fuel.
