ok last night finished up hte turbo install and started it up, after fixing a little fuel leak it idled fine, i gave it a few revs. nothing over 3500 and the boost gauge only went up to 10 in vaccum, so that was problem 1, so this morning i go out and take off the intake piping start the car and gave it a little rev to like 2500 to see if the turbo was pushing air and it was then i let it idle for a sec and the next thing iknow and smoke is coming out of my exhuast. i have no idea what it is. the engine never even saw boost yet but there is smoke, it is whitish poss. a tint of blue but doesnt smell like burning oil or burning coolant.what the hell is it, could it be just running rich? it kinda smells gas like but has a burning smell too. my a/f is at stoich what could this be. should i let it run for a while and see if its just somthing burning off? buy it didnt do this last night.

Have you taken it for a drive yet? Does the smoke come out all the time? even after you drive it for a little while. You might want to do a compression test to see what numbers you get.

i really dont think it is the engine becuz it ran fine b4 and i havent even connected the piping to the intake yet. what i think it is, is oil builing up in the turbo from teh return line and seeping into the turbine housing and burning into the exhaust, and why it might not have done this last night is becuz the car was still jacked up and the return line was prob more in a downhill direction. and it doesnt smoke at first it take a couple seconds to start and at idle there isnt a lot but if i give it a little rev like 2500 then more comes out which could be built up pressure in the return line? what do u think. after work i think ill shorten the return line so it doesnt have a dip in it from being to long its not a major dip but it is there. any other suggestions and o u think this could be my prob.??

well do all the double checking first. tighten everything that you put on (oil fuel, all bolts etc); tighten the clamps from the turbo to bov, to intake? is the oil getting to the turbo? prime the engine with the turbo oil feed line into a cup to double check if there is in fact oil getting to the turbo. where did you mount the oil feed line. is it to the top of the oil pan? don't worry, a billion problems got in my way at the first start up but you'll get there.

i tapped into the oil sending unit for oil feed and the return onto the very top of the pan. i suspected taht the oil was building up cuz the return line did go uphill in one spot so i redid that and it seems that the smoke isnt coming out of the exhaust anymore. it was 25 degrees here tonight when i started it up the only thing that came out was water condensation which is expected when its 25 and the car hasnt moved for likea week and im probably running rich. but the turbo still has smoke coming off of it i think its just the oil that was in it burning off. how long do u think it will take for all the shit on the turbo to burn off. that smoke smells like burning and its bluish the exhaust just smells like gassy water vapor. so i think its better

yeah it takes a while for the turbo to burn off that's spilled on the turbo. its scary too cause i thought my engine blew cause i smelled/saw smoke coming from my hood. it turned out that it was oil that spilled on the compressor area. it spilled cause i kept checking the oil feed line.

Is your exhaust connected to the turbo? It could be just that you are running stoich because the o2 sensor is not getting any exhaust gas. Also just take it for a test spin or let it idle for a while it'll probally stop.
