#60025, "Finally installed electric FP gauge...different pressures then mechanical??"

Well I finally installed my Autometer Ultra-lite fuel pressure gauge. I was showing only 38psi of fuel at idle, I know my mechanical one I had hooked up last week had me at 50psi at idle. I upped my fuel pressure and the car does seem to be running better now. Before my O2's were at .92v at WOT, now they are at .98-.99 which makes me feel a little safer (I know, a tad rich). So do you think it was my mechanical gauge that was wrong? Also just to be sure I did it right, I tee'd into the 1/4" fuel line that goes from the passenger side of the fuel rail to the bottom of the Cartech FPR. Now I just have to get my damn EGT gauge working (have it wired but it doesn't move AT ALL.)

also forgot to mention that my gauge was a little fogged up this morning on my drive to work (it's cold here now). Is there anyway to fix this?

it seems like your electric gauge is working fine since your 02 is high/safe levels imo. that's the good thing with a lot of gauges cause you can tell the car is working correctly since you double check with having many gauges (adds to paranoia though lol).

i don't know about the fogging lense. is it inside that's fogged? maybe theres a bad seal of something.

Thanks, yeah it eases my mind now. I'm sooo glad I put the electric one in because I would have probably eventually started running lean. Man now that I can see my FP's all the time now I see I really need to get a Walboro pump and an SFMU....stupid cartech emoji

The fogging on the lense is on the inside. It was gone when I went out for lunch so it's not that big of a deal, I just know that every cold morning it'll probably be like that. Is it safe to take the gauge apart and re seal it, or should I just send it in to Autometer?

Yeah I really want an electric fuel pressure guage. How much did you pay for yours with the sender? I found the Ultra-Lite model (the same style as all my other gauges) on Summit Racing for like 191 bucks. Thats a lot!

The price I was charged was a little higher then that, but that is because I got it for free emoji Through work I sometimes get gift certificates from www.giftcertificates.com where you can use at hundreds of different online retailers. They only have 1 automotive place so I had to get it from there. Got my EGT & Fuel pressure gauge from there. I only had to pay like $25.00 out of my own pocket for both.

you know what i was thinking, did you start the car after the electric fp install. the cartech fp fluctuates by as much as 10 psi or more so maybe after you installed the gauge, it fluctuated again.

as far as the fp gauge, mine is from dynotune, its digital also. it was about 170 ish, check the site though. its good but i've had some issues with the electrical wiring, but i've also had issues with autometer (but autometer has a warranty-and i heard they take great care of you).

I've had both the Mechanical and Electrical gauge on at the same time and they both showed different fuel pressures, oh well, I'll stick with the Electrical since my car seems to be running better since I upped the fuel. As far as problems wiring it, the only problem I have is it lights up right when I turn on the car. I guess I wired it up to the wrong wire on the cigarette lighter, oh well.
