Is anyone here using this setup, or tried it in the past? How well did it work and run? What settings did you use? Did you find it necessary to use an FMU to get accurate tuning? My car is unfortunately a returnless system so I cant use a rrfpr.

I'm trying to turbocharge my 2001 accent, but there arent exactly too many places to look for direct information, so I'm trying to find cars that would need a similar setup. My car also comes with a 1bar MAP from the factory, so I'm hoping for any insights I could gain from here as far as tuning goes.

Never run out of real estate, traction, and ideas at the same time.

well, like you, most of us are returnless fuel systems also. just run the sfmu (rrfpr) and run a return line to the back of the tank. i have the safc but never did this to it.

Frankly, I'd start simple. Try to figure out a way to run a return line and use a S-FMU. The returnless-type DSM guys use a test port on the fuel rail to hook up a return line. They can use metal brake line to create the actual return line. The S-FMU will give you good control over the fuel system. It should be good enough for a starter turbo system. If you are trying to pioneer a new system, you'll have to take lessons from what other manufacturers do and Keep It Simple.

Props to Corbin for coming up with the Fool-the-safc mod, but I tried it and ditched it. Couldn't get consistent results, was having timing and detonation problems. Could very well be my inability to tune correctly. emoji Went 8 injector (semi standalone) instead.

You might want to hit up websites about Turbo Tiburons... there are quite a few out there. Here's some good links: http://www.tiburonturbo.com/links.htm

Thanks for the heads up on how the setup runs, i was leaning towards an AIC anyways.

BTW, that tiburon is pushing 288whp, 105mph trap speeds, and unfortunately traction limited mid-low 14's. That car is very impressive... I'm actually a moderator on the largest Hyundai sites (www.hyundaiperformance.com) but I like to get out of my own community for experience on stuff like this usually. He's also running an Autronic standalone ecm, the same that the Libra Racing rally team ran in SCCA Open Class Pro Rally, and i'm pretty sure the WRC accent ran, so thats a little beyond what I want for my car. Its good to see other people watch what some of our crazier owners are able to do!

Yeah one of the RRE (4g63 fanatic shop) guys has a turbo v6 tiburon in sleeper trim for his daily driver, so I try to keep up with him, kinda my personal performance standard. It'll be fun to go against him if I ever get mine running right. Battle of the sleepers at RRE hehehe.

Gonna have the DSM'ers going :o WTF? emoji emoji emoji
