Okey, I really need advice now... Here is the entire story:
One night i was driving home and right as i pulled into the garage i heard something i thought sounded like knocking... It worried me a little so i did a compression check.... this is how i performed the check i unpluged all the wires and took out #1 spark plug only put compression check tool in and cranked it over 3 times and then vented the tool and then cranked 3 more times.... the compression check read as follows
#1: 60psi #2 150 #3 150 #4 150.
I decided i would take the head off and see if anything was wrong... well after taking the head off i did a lithium grease test on number one it scraped up all the grease... and then i did the oil test where i put oil in each cylender above the pistons while they are centered and wait 48hours.... both tests turned out great... the oil is still there and the rings scraped up the lithium grease...
I just took the head to the machine shop today http://www.rpmrons.com and they did a pressure and vaccume check and they said the head checked out just fine....
Now What???
I have a spare head gasket laying around should i throw it on and put the head back on and retorque everything and see if that fixes my problem or should i yank the entire engine disassemble and rebuild...
my questions to everyone are:
#1 would i loose compression if i spun a crank baring or a baring goes bad..
#2 if there anything i can do short of taking the pistons out to check if the lower end is ok.
I really need some advise.. im frustrated im not so sure what i should do at this point... as i still haven't found the problem in the first place.
Could kometic given me a wrong head gasket perhaps for the neon instead? Is there a difference in the head gasket?

did you try doing another comrpession check again? just in case you did something wrong the first time? I know when I did my check we checked a cylinder a couple times cuz we thought we were getting wrong numbers or something. so we did it a couple times to be sure.

yeah did a compression check right before i took the head off.... just to be sure.... still got 60 on #1...

So pritty much what im asking is if there is anything else i can check before i put the other head gasket on and tighten things down?
or should i just pull everything out and rebuild it again?? as far as i can tell the bottom end looks great... im so frustrated...

You only cranked the motor over 3 times for the compression test? To get accurate readings, you need to keep cranking the motor until the needle on the gauge stops going up. This can take up to 4 or 5 seconds of cranking. Could also have been a piece of dirt or the like, creating the seal on the tester to not seal properly..You say the car was knocking? Well how well did it run? If you really have 60 psi compression in one cylinder, then the motor would have been running slightly rough, esp at idle.

We where able to get the car to run very well at idle... it idled fine.... did get some smoke out the back, however, occasionaly.. a white/gray smoke.... after doing some searches im leaning more twords a head gasket issue then anything else... the oil i put in the cylenders are still there.. it's now been over 24hours since i put the oil in there....
So what would you suggest i do put the extra mls head gasket back on and see how she runs?
How hard is it to put the timing belt back on?

You definitely have to crank the engine for a while when doing the compression test, fyi. I have to do it for like 10 seconds. Also, don't just unplug the wires from the plugs, there is a chance of arcing if you do that. Unplug the coil pack. It's just a little clip that goes into the pack where the spark plug wires hook up. It sounds like you may as well put your engine back together and see where you stand. Best of luck to you!
