#59205, "best bov"

i didnt see a thread bout this when i searched so i figured id start one. i will hopefully be going turbo in a couple of months and im trying to decide what bov to get. i originally wanted the greddy type s but it is expensive as hell and im trying to save myself a little bit of money for when i decide to get the fty 2.2L kit. anyway, i have heard the stock 1g bov is good and i also think i remember hearing something about the turbo xs bov. just list below what you think is the best sounding and performing bov, how much it costs and where to get it. thanks.

I don't think that best goes with saving money. you can get a cheap type H knockoff on ebay for not too much denero.

I keep coming across threads about BOVs and I think that most like the rfl. not all, but a lot of people seem to like them.

it also depends on what amount of boost you will be running. do a search on bov flutter and you will see that a lot of people have a hard time with high boost BOVs and the old turkey gobble with low boost applications.

I run the TurboXS RFL. It's a very well constructed device, and it is extremely loud. I thought I would get annoyed with the sound quickly, as it's just this incredibly loud "whoooooosh" between every shift, even when the engine isn't hardly revved out at all. I still like it though. Great BOV for the money (less than 200).

They pretty much all do the job. I've heard of the cheap ones sticking. The plastic bosche ones leak, but are good for low boost use. If you use a 1g bov you should really put some sort of filter on the end, because it remains open durring vaccuum since it's a diverter valve that was designed to be recirculated

1G is the best for the money. Click the links on my sig to hear that one. I have upgraded to the turbo xs rfl since then(not that the 1G was bad, I just wanted that sound the turbo xs one makes),but it seems to flutter a bit at low boost when I am driving the car like im at an auto x.

Hey, if it's fluttering it gives you an excuse to turn up the boost.

The fluttering noise is not the BOV at all really, it's the fact that the BOV is not opening up at low boost situations, and the flutter is actually compressor surge. The fluttering sound is from the air bouncing off the throttle body plate, and coming back through the compressor inlet.
