#58747, "Something Weird With Head *Solar Update*"
Okey, So I pulled the oil pan tonight and everything seems very tight.... a little side to side motion but not much of that at all and 0 what so ever up and down motion.. the pistons look great and so do the rods.... everything looks solid from the ground up....
I took out the cams tonight and the cam cover i just broke off.... he he.... and I stuck my fingers in the exhaust port of #1 cycl and i felt around.. i could feel the valve then when i pulled my finger out it was CAKED in oil... in the exhaust port??? #2 was about the same but slightly less oil than number one.... #3 and #4 where dry....
This is starting to sound like a headgasket problem to me..... what do you guys think?? I'm waiting for my 16mm deep so i can start pulling the head bolts out.... I'm hoping to have that head off tomorrow.. I went a long way tonight... oh also no metal shavings in the oil pan or filter.
Any idea's?
day #1 Fixed chain lift took off hood took off wastegate dissconnected all oil lines to turbo and boost guage took off valve cover took off valve cover gasket drained oil
Day #2 took downpipe out took turbo and manifold out dropped oil pan dropped oil filter took cam caps off took off timing belt on cam gears took out cam shafts took out rocker arms

It sounds as if your head is almost cracked. Either that or your valve seals are fucked but that wouldent have shit to do with your compression being off.

yeah, Im stumped. But I can tell you replacing your valve stem seals SUCKS. I did it while I had the head off, took me like 4 days. After 4 valves I would get pissed off and not want to work on it any more, heh.

well if it's something to do with the head i'm deffanitly taking it to a machine shop and paying the $300 or so for them to do it... I don't even want to fuck with the head..... so a valve seal wouldn't cause lower compression?

naa valve seals dont have anything to do with compression. If its not a cracked head maybe you cracked a piston and the oil is comming up through the rings. Did the pistons look ok?
