I am bought this FMIC:




All you custom FMIC guys: How can I make bracket(s) for this?? I was thinking maybe Home Depot has some aluminum brackets that I can take to a radiator shop for them to weld on???? I need to know where to get some sort of bracket, what size, and where exactly they can go.

Also, where should the FMIC be mounted to on the car??? Any pics would help.

HRC mounts their FMIC to the OEM fog light holes. there are 4 of them, 2 on each side. remove the front bumper cover, and look down near the bottom and they will look like this:

the dot means a hole. the underscore is there because DCF removes spaces.

the HRC FMIC kit provides studs that screws into these locations on the frame and provides spacers that fit around the studs to maintain ridigness (if that's a word). this is probably the best way to do it, but you will need to weld on brackets to your new FMIC. also, that spearco FMIC has the I/O on the wrong side for 2GNT turbo kits. you'd have to turn it around to have the I/O on the driver's side.

Yea I know its the opposite side... I'm gonna flip it so the SPEARCO doesnt show, then it's ok.

Ok I see what you mean.... Now does anyone have idea for what to use for the actual brackets?

This should work perfect.

Take front bumper off. Drive car to radiator shop. Weld two aluminum brackets on the underside of the fmic core. The brackets will point to the back of the car. Then get some long self tapping screws which will screw into the metal beam that runs below the radiator. You will have a mounting bracket with a nut plate in it above and center of the fmic. Weld a bracket onto the fmic that points up. Drill a hole into the bracket that allows a screw to fit through the hole into the nut plate of the existing car bracket.

The mouth of your bumper(97-99), lower lip should line up perfectly with the bottom of the core. This easiest and most painless way to mount/center the fmic. I am not sure if your left fog light will clear the piping, but that is something you will ahve to figure out.

My aluminum brackets were L-brackets(bottom mount). The top is a bracket about 2 inches wide, 3 inches tall and 1/4 inch thick. This is going from memory, so I could be a little off.

I don't have pics of my install sorry. Your intercooler should actually be easier in the long run due to your inlet/outlet being on one side. I was more concerned with overall flow with having a medium size intercooler.

carful flipping the intercooler...it may not flow the same way...the apex'i one doesn't if i remember correctly...might just wanna try cleaning off the paint with some break cleaner...
