Ok, so Ive had my SMIC installed for awhile now (and used custom piping with clamps from Home Depot, yea the plumbing ones)... Anyways, now ive turned up the boost to 8psi and everytime I hit about 6 pounds the intercooler piping ALWAYS blows off... Now i know Im using crappy clamps (only $6 a piece), but I dont want to spend the $20 a piece they have at RRE (i think thats a rip off)... Anyone have a cheaper alternative that theyve found to work under higher boost then 6 pounds???

i assume your ic pipes are not beaded? well if not go get that done because if you wish to even reach 12psi+later you will need it. i rather do it correct the 1st time around.. if you want to try something try to use better clamps/ or and two of them. good luck Michael 99gs HRC Stage IV 8-Injector Setup 2GNT Member #32

Not to sounds like a N00B (even though I still do), but how would I go about this... Just drop off the pipes at a machine shop or could I buy a tool at Home Depot or somethin to get it done...

just bring the pipes to a welder/muffler shop and ask them to put a "bead" around the edges. It's like a little lump to stop the clamped hose from sliding straight off.

couldnt you also just weld the pipes together, not all the way around the pipe, but just a small section like 1 cm to prevent this instead of welding this line of metal around the pipe. it would be more hidden this way

Do this. If you dont it will continue to get worse and worse. Believe me I know
