What year Eclipse/Talon have you got? If its an "early" 95 then NO for sure (OBD-I).

If its a "Late" 95 - 99 (OBD-II) then its a gamble.... Sometimes it comes on, goes off, or may never ever even come on!

If you can check (and clear) engine codes using the on-off-on-off-on routine, then it shouldn't really be a problem unless the Check-engine light is a daily thing.
