#57666, "fluctuating fp with sfmu---ALSO if i get detonation will i know it?" Oct-03-03 05:37 PM by jsupetran
this is weird. ever since i got here to school, sometimes my fp readings will lower. i set the idle fp to 48 psi, then it will lower. I HAVE THE SMFU. when i got wot, my af readings are good. hitting .97 initially, then 1.00 to 1.01. fp is at 83 psi. should i worry?
looking at old post, extremers said wrote something like .93 is good 02 readings. im confused now.

Dont tune to your o2 voltage by itself, concentrate on your EGT's more than anything. I remember on the dnyo and wideband o2(not my car), a 11.5:1 A/F ratio was reading around .99-1.0+ volts on the stock o2 sensor. If you are running less then 8 psi, then you can prob get away with slightly less fuel, but not much, esp if you run on the stock motor. Detonation is audible, but light bouts of it you prob wont hear over the engine,ect.. Loud detonation sounds like a metalic spitting sound, ball bearings in a can sound, a nasty rattling sound. Its not super loud, but you can hear it(windows down half way, and radio off, helps to hear it). As for the SFMU fluctuating, I have never heard of one doing that, so check all your vac connections, and also your fuel return lines to be sure none are kinked or obstructed.
