As with intercooler piping, I just upgraded mine slightly. I now have a 2.5" mandrel bent 90 degree pipe coming off of my intake manifold, then it couples to a 2 1/4 pipe that leads to my IC, then before the IC from the turbo I have 2" piping.
I have heard that bigger piping is better. True? There is the debate as to whether it is better to have smaller piping with more velocity or larger piping. Even with the piping expanded (in my case to 2.5 inches!) the air compresses immediately so it should be more efficient, right? Thought or input appreciated...as I am planning to make all my piping 2.5" eventually.

i've redone all my piping a couple time to play around with it. i came the conclusion you want as less couplers and bends as possible. theres minor flow problems where the pipes join. to much sheeit and it slows down the air obviously. bigger is better in a sense yes but dont over do it like 5 inch piping or anything lol. 2.5 mandrel bent alluminum is good enough to flow about 600cfm no probs, large pipes will only add to the volume, which is not always good _________ 96 talon esi-t san clemente, ca

its not the size of the piping, but how you use it haha!
but yes, i would think the larger and less restrictive the piping the better in forced induction applications. like ^^ said, the less bends and couples you have the better. at the same time though you should have a 2.5" exhaust too, which i know you have.

Sorry to get off topic but your car is one of my favorites on the board.
Anyway, back on topic...I think it's generally a rule of thumb that bigger is better when it comes to cars unless you're talking about track times. :o

Let's get back on topic shall we??? Bigger would be better if you were using a turbo that can flow 750+ CFM. Since you are only running 6 psi, you might want to stick with smaller piping to keep the velocity up.
