Ok guys for my custom FMIC setup i'm gonna buy some mandrel bends from RRE. I would like to know:

1) YOU HAHN KIT GUYS... can you tell me what the piping for your FMIC looks like. I am going to try to recreate it with this IC I bought:

Maybe if you have pics of the piping that would help OR EVEN BETTER YET... if you could tell me how many U bends, J bends, 90 deg. bends or 45 deg. bends I'll need, I would appreciate it.

2) Once I buy the actual bends, where can I get straight pipes to run the rest of the piping where it goes straight?

3) Where can I buy good quality couplers online? I dont want the most expensive stuff... just good to do the job and not melt or expand... I believe silicon couplers are recommended?????

I have read about a hundred posts on this subject and they have always come out that they have run their piping a little different one to another. some opt for cold air, some don't. also it depends on if you are deciding to clock your turbo or not. if you choose to, then the wastegate actuator can be a problem.

I will watch this thread with interest to see if someone comes up with an easy answer to this.

yea i heard of clocking the turbo but i DONT want to... im trying to make less work for myself. I have a rough idea of how it should look but i would like any pics, advice on what bends, etc... The HRC kit doesnt make you clock the turbo so however that is done is good. Thanks.

Get your pipes from JCWhitney, They have to be cheaper than RRE. you can get straight sections at any muffler shop.

Alrighty...it isn't simple, but its not as hard as you'd think.

I recommend move the battery to the trunk,it just give you a ton more space to work with under the hood. SO Ive got that done. Then I've got a 90 degree mandrel bent 2.5" pipe right after the intake manifold that curved where the battery is, that connects to another small "J" pipe that goes through the little circle by the fuse box. The piping then kinda does a little S, you'll have to see the area your working with, it's tough to expain. The I have a 90 degree turn that goes to the intercooler. From the other side of the intercooler I have a 90 degree bend that brings the pipe to the top of the intercooler, and a long straight pipe that goes over the intercooler. From here I have a 180 degree 2" mandrel bent pipe that connects to a short straight pipe, then takes a 90 degree bend upwards and goes to the coupling off the turbo. I cant explain this fuck Im high

have fun with that ic!!!!!!! its ports are on the wrong side. the hrc fmic has both of the ports on the right side. yours are on the left. which means your gonna have to runn all of your pipes between the turbo and the radiator which sucks. or you could run the ic upside down, dunno how that would work but your lettering would be off

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.

Or can't I just rotate it so the backside is now facing out and then the outlets will be on the driver's side????

I think you could mount it the way the HRC intercooler is mounted. That intercooler doesnt have any mounting brackets anyway.

Ok Just a few more questions:

1) I am getting Mandrel bends from JCWhitney. However, for the straight pipe I found a 4 foot aluminized exhaust tubing on jegs.com. Is this tubing light and thin like the bends from JCWhitney or are they heavy ass tubes?

2) Since the IC I have doesn't have mounting brackets, where and how can I get them done. How can I fabricate some and where do you suggest I put one (or them)? What kidn of place will do it and where (stores??) would I buy "brackets" ?

I have 3 2" diameter aluminum pipes that are about 2 1/2 feet long each I will sell to you all for 20 bucks shipped. If you need them shorter you can just cut them.

With the intercooler, you can have an "L" bracket welded to the top center of it for about $20 locally, and run a 12mm bolt through the bracket into a hole that already exists on a "steel pole" that resides in front of your radiator. When you have your bumper off, you will see what "pole" and 12mm bolt I am talking about.

p.s. I removed my front bumper support....so everything is tad easier...if you don't you mave have more trouble.

you can get a piece of flex pipe from pep boys or even dryer hose and mount the i cooler where you want it, then put the flex pipe in and then take it out as one piece. then take it to a muffler shop and have them bend it exactly the same way. we did that with my buddys civic and it worked out perfectly. just be sure not to bend the flex pipe as your pulling it out and make the least amount of bends as possible.
