I have a stage 1 HRC kit. I found this FMIC on ebay:

and I was wondering if it is possible to use this one. Notice how there are outlets on opposite sides. I am away at college now and I can't see my car, so I was wondering if there is any room on the left side of the engine bay to run pipes. I was thinking of running the turbo to the left side of the FMIC, and then out the right side and up to the Throttle body.

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: Also, how much cutting/fabricating will I have to do to my 97-99 style front bumper to fit it?? TIA

Not a bad intercooler man! I have a GReddy FMIC that I had to slightly mod to get to work. What I did, was I clocked my turbo housing (rotated it 90*) so that the piping wouldn't have as many bends. Clocking it was cake, just remove the snap ring from the compressor side, unbold the wastegate actuator, then rotate the assembly. Replace the snap ring when you have it in the desired position. The only think you really need to cut is the radiator support to the driver's side of the radiator. I cut out a section just big enough for the piping to slip through. The only other "difficult" part is welding on a little piece of scrap metal to the compressor housing that can be tapped so you cn remount the actuator arm. If you run it the way I'm describing, you can use the piping from a 1G Eclipse turbo for your upper intercooler pipe (the piece that the BOV mounts to). I'll try and send ya some pics. Look for a seller named "Boostcoolers". I got mine from them, and it's a 3" Spearco bar & plate core. They had alot of different sizes and at a damn fine price.

The only problem you are going to have running pipes to the left and up to the turbo is the AC compressor housing is in there. The right side (TB side) is wide open and that is why HRC has both their inlet and outlet on the right. If you willing to loose your AC I bet you wouldn't have a problem. Good luck.

I have the larger version of that exact fmic (24x12x3 vs. 21x9x3).

You can run the piping on the left side just fine.

I didnt have to remove anything, or cut anything.

Running the piping from the left side of the intercooler to the TB or turbo is not a problem. You will most likely have to remove your fog lights if you have any.

The right side of the intercooler will have to make a 90 degree bend upward from inlet on the end tank. You will then make another 90 degree bend to go over the top of the intercooler core toward the left side of your car.

Both pipes can be run(even 2.5 inch)through that massive hole up into the left side of the engine bay. That is how mine is routed.

Just get a few small J-bends(tight turning radius) and a few U-bends. I cannot remember off hand how many it took. Once you mount the intercooler with aluminum brackets, running the piping is easy. A muffler shop would be glad to do it for ya.

I also had a bracket mounted on the top center of my core to mount to the existing bracket in front of my radiator. I had two aluminum L-brackets welded at a 45 degree angle on the bottom of the core. I used long self tapping screws and screwed them into the painted metal brace below the radiator.

My core is 18 inches long, 8 inches high and 2.75 inches thick. My endtanks were custom made a little wider than most. They fill the 2G bumper completely and were designed to allow the air to flow with the least amount of turbulance. I wanted maximum amount of cooling with the least amount of lag from the turbo. I even went with 2 inch piping throughout. This was originally for an autocross only car. I did have my inlets/outlets made for 2.25 inch just in case I decided to upsize my piping from the intercooler to the TB.

In a nut shell, buy that intercooler or something like it...if the price is right.

Question: I was talking to a 4g63 guy he said I didn't need a fmic, I'm planning on using a stock 14b out of a 1g, and probly run 7ish boost, I don't know yet how much boost I'll be running.

That's right. I have that FMIC and I love it. Just do what Ryan described and you'll be good to go
