I dont think it would hurt to change ure timin if your gonna use a 75 shot, but it isnt absolutely necessary... You would need to get a new set of cam gears (either AEM, OBX, etc..) and retard the intake gear timin +4
The best way really to retard your timing perfectly is to put it on a dyno, but I know that not everyone has one around them... You can get a set of adjustable gears online for like $300 or so...

I was just curious about the timing. I thought you retard the exhaust cam because it has the position sensor on it? I'm new to this and am curious. I've got a 75 shot on my car. When I run both cams at 0, the timing line on the plugs is too high. When I run the exhaust cam 2 degrees retarded, it pulls a lot harder. I'm gonna get on a dyno within a week or two and see how it goes...

wrong timing guys, you want to retard IGNITION timing not cam timing, you need a MSD ignition like the dis2 which is capable of retarding ignition timing but not advancing it, which is fine cause you want it retarded. and a little retarding is just a good measure to prevent detonation

I know it has to be ignition timing. I don't have a problem with detonation anyhow. The exhaust cam retard is what I was told to do in the event of detonation since you can't retard the ignition timing with the stock ignition.

dont mess with the timing for the gears themselves on a stock drivetrain. get a programmbale dis-2 and change the ignition timing like ^^ said or you are gunn have MAD problems....

who told you to mess with the exhaust cam.... emoji

I've got a P&P intake, bored TB, & #14 cams. I know when I retard the exhaust cam 2 degrees, it makes a huge difference when spraying. The guy that had the car built is who told me to run it like that. He also said to retard the intake cam, but I don't see how that would play any part in timing since it doesn't have a position sensor on it. When the exhaust cam is at 0, the timing line on the plugs is a little too high. When I run it 2 degrees retarded, the timing line is a little high, but closer to where it needs to be. Also, the fuel ring on the plugs is perfect when it's ran -2 degrees...

I wouldnt retard the ignition timing for a 75-shot. you should be ok long as you use it wisely.

I was debating on going a little higher (100 shot), but I don't have a way to retard the timing. The timing line on the plugs is a little high, is there a module I could buy to retard the timing, something similar to a boost timing retard, but activates when you're spraying?

Is it possible to retard the ignition timing? I know it's possible, but what do I need to do so?

You would need an ignition box like an MSD dis-2.
