Hey I didn't tap my mani I drilled a hole and was going to have a buddy of mine weld it in their. I didnt realize that I should just have taped the hole for the right thread size and things would have been fine. Well live and learn. Well my buddy got the piece to hot and melted it. I had an exhaust shop weld up the whole and I would like to do this again. Any idea on where to get the piece again, greddy wants 30$ for one (damnit!). Which I will pay if I cant find anything else.
But another question is How should I tap? Sorry for the noob question.
thx guys

home depot and home depot. If the fitting is the one I am thinging of, kinda like a thread reducer, they will have it at home depot. The depot also has tap sets, you can match the tap with the fitting you get there. When you tap first you drill a hole with the drill bit that comes with the set. Then get the tap bit and dip it in motor oil. Usually for a deep tap you need to go in a bit then back it out and go in a bit more until your through. But with an intake mani you should be able to get through in one shot. Be sure to oil the tap or it will just break...

most egt's are 1/8npt thread the manifold wall is strong enough to drill a hole and tap the hole dont usually need a bung...

Bill

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

I went to home depot and they only have brass fittings. Will this work? Greddy's fitting was SS. And Bill, im talking about the piece that taps the mani.

I just got my Egt, and the bung is double male sided...least mine is from Autometer...kinda need bung inless you find a similar part. You cant tap the manifold without one. The Probe has a nut with female threads to attach to bung.
