I own a 97 Galant, done up to the best of my ability and its pretty fast. But i was thinking, its fast now but it could be faster, and theres nothing beter then taking a car that is never tricked out and then tricking it out and watching the faces of all the people you dust. So i decided to get a turbo. And sence iv done all the work on my car already i wanted to do this my self too. So i started to look it up and do the reserch, and well iv learned alot and am still missing alot. So i wandering if anyone would'nt mind breaking it down for me step by step or even showing me to a web site thats step by step. Mind you i dont know what all the abreviations and lingo are eather. Mind you i've been working on cars sence i was 8, but they where all american V8's, didnt switch to imports till much much later. I kinda need to know what i need and how to do it, what to watch out for and whats best. I would be very thankfull for any info and thanks again.

97 Galant - 2.4 liter 16 valve
Most stuff for the Eclipse works for the Galant too.

Thanks again,
David Graham

Does the 97 galant have the 420A?? I didnt think so but I may be mistaken. Im sure you have a mitsubishi engine... somethign along the lines of engine code: 6g-- (-- being some numbers) Anyway..... are you planning on doing a custom setup or is there a kit for your car? If there is a kit then follow their directions. If this is a custom project You biggest problem is goinf to be finding a exhaust/turbo manifold if it doesn't exist. It would have to be custom made so you'll need to find someone who can make one for you.... and diefferent turbos need different style manifolds. Then gather all the other parts... fuel lines, oil lines and fuel regulators I would assume are just universal among other parts. Then there MIGHT be some specific problem areas for the Galant you'll have to overcome... I have no clue.

Your best bet: Go to a galant message board if they exist (im sure they do) and ask there.

Ok its a 2.4 16 valve 4G64 motor. And No they dont make a kit for my car at all so im going to have to do a custom job, everything i get for my car always is made for the eclipse so i was hoping there was a manafold off the eclipse that would fit, they dont make after market galant parts. And i've NEVER seen a galant forom page, and yes i have looked. I hope that helps a little more. Thanks again and i'll try to include a pic or two to give you a beter idea.

Thanks Again All,
David Graham

http://www.neweclipse.org

search on that you'll find kit for 3g eclipse.

the intake is reversed on 3g compared to galant but other than that It looks pretty much identical.

I also heard that 4g63 stock manifolds bolt up to 4g64 motors without a prob.

Good Luck

You could always pu a 4g63 head on it, and use a 4g63 manifold for the turbo. You'd also likely get a good performance boost out of it just by swapping a DOHC head on it.

Does anyone know of a site or anything on what takes place when you install a turbo? Like what goes where, what hooks up to what, and all that? The more descriptive the beter. Mind you this is for a 4G64 with the 4G63 Head conversion. Meaning the kit will most likly be for the 4G63.

Thanks Again Everyone,
David Graham
