#54629, "Project Solar Eclipse Pictures.. Week 3- Venom manifold and Fuel Rail"

#1 - is a picture of the venom intake manifold off of the engine with the fuel rail mounted... this was an extreme pain in the ass... the bolts on the fuel rail where behind the pipes and it made it very difficult to get on and off... the injects went into place just fine but we had wire harness problems so we may end up taking them out.

#2 - This is a closer picture of the venom fuel rail... and the denso injectors that don't seem to like my wire harness... so if anyone can take a close look at them and let me know if they see anything out of the norm with them i would appericiate it.. i'm just thinking they are the caps on the wire harness... but who knows... the intake and the fuel rail are polished... they are dusty from some of the welding we did inside when it's done we will clean it up.

#3 an closer look at the fuel injector the 480cc denso we are having problems with... along with the fuel rail.

#4 Here is a VERY close up picture of the denso injector on the fuel rail.

#5 this is the back side of the venom intake manfifold.. you can see where we plugged the sensor's into place etc... you can also see one of the difficult to get bolts for the fuel rail.

#6 a closer look at the intake welds.

#7 this is a picture of the engine compartment showing the exhaust side of the turbo... and the wastegate and shows how close the downpipe is going to come to the starter motor... very interesting.. we lined things up and they fit just great.. like it was meant to be.
some users on here have commented that they like the way this is setup.

#8 A more centered picture of the engine compartment without the venom intake manifold in place.

#9 the bloody pully we where having problems with we finally where able to get it on...

#10 a picture of the Brembo cross drilled rotors and the ceramic break pads...

#11 a side profile of the eclipse

#12 an other side profile of the eclipse

#13 cutting away at the throttle housing.... would not fit right with the venom manifold in place...

#14 Ricessorries

#15 this is a picture of the manifold before we installed it

#16 this is a picture of the throttle cable we had to cut away after it was done... now the intake manifold fits just great

#17 a picture of the manifold mounted along with the fuel rail

#18 a good picture of the map sensor and the intake manifold along with the missing link installed.

#19 a close up picture of the throttle cable cut and in place along with the intake manfifold a good close up picture of the map sensor and missing link.

#20 hooking up the wire harness

#21 ECU Installed and plugged in.

#22 the other side of the intake manifold.

Thats all for now let me know what you guys think.. or any suggestions.

That looks very nice man, very nice!

I like what you did w/ the exhaust manifold. I thought about doing that but I didn't know if it was going to work w/ the power steering and a/c on that side. W/ the exhaust on that side you might be able to use a 4g63 dp.

I ran into the same problems as you did. I had to take out the cruise control box (throttle cable box) and go to an rs throttle cable line because mine was hitting it as well. I would have cut it like you did but my missing link is mounted in the same area as a stock manifold. I also have just about as much room as you do between the fire wall and the intake.

The gains are well worth it. I don't have the Venom intake but I have PureRage's (Ray's) custom intake. Basically the same exact thing only mine has shorter runners than the Venom and it also has a 70mm Mustang TB on it.

I don't know if it would be as great if you didn't have turbo though. The biggest gain I noticed was the spool. On my car the turbo spools about 1000rpm sooner that it did before. The second big notice I saw was the top end. The car had great top end before but now it is just unreal for an i4.

All in all I think the two necessary steps that need to be taken after a turbo install are:

1. Larger intake manifold w/ shorter runners
2. 3" turbo back exhaust w/ no cat

Thanks for your input!!! man i am getting all sorts of excited!! i will deffanitly let everyone know how it runs! So just a side note on them damn injectors... we went to bradshaw autoparts here in utah and purchased some new injector caps... and they fit just fine... thse are for the 480cc denso injectors.... on other thing we noticed today is that with the new manifold on there the map sensor didn't reach so we got some more wire and sodered it and extended the map sensor wire.. we will take some pictures of that.....

we are getting really close!

no UDP man...

looking very nice...

that is an interesting setup are u gonna use power steering and a/c?

im assuming your usging a left right style flow intercooler?

i have a new intake manifold option in the works that is half the price of the venom so keep your ears open u will see the prototype pics ina couple days...

Bill

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.

explain a few things to me.. i'm a little confused... UDP universal down pipe? Sorry i'm a little novice with the terminology. No we are not using PS and A/C... they both go... we have plenty of space for them, however, i found once i took the PS out before the rebuild it handled quite a bit better it seemed to be more accurate... could just be me though i have always prefered no ps... a/c we may put back in, after everything is all setup....

Ok after doing some reading i found out what UDP meant... the under drive pully... Is this a big advantage? Also about the EGR can i get rid of it without pulling any CEL's?

udps usually get 7whp (wheel horsepower) ona stock asa rock motor..

it would be a good idea to get one for your motor...

egr can be blocked of but u must leave the solenoid hooked up but use block off plates...(to prevent the CEL)

if u dont feel like making the plates email me ill set u up with some...

Solar, You will get a code for the egr nomatter what. Even if you block it off a code still come up for insufficent flow. I was just asking because I wasnt sure if the egr tube would hook up to that manafold. If it dosent Just take the whole system out. It makes everything look alot cleaner. Plus you dont have to worry about any melted wires on the tube. As for the underdrive pulley I would do it. I noticed a nice gain especially with the a/c on.

Yes everything that was on the manifold before will be on the manifold i have now... we haven't had any problems hooking things up.. the only problem we have run into at all was the injector wire harness.. hopefully the denso 480cc's i got are high impedance.
