I just got my intercooler today and I'm gonna need to figure out a way to run the piping from on end to the other. I'm pretty sure I will need to clock the turbo, but I need some pics from you guys that have the same type of IC setup as this one. Feel free to post as many as possible with as much detail too. I don't wanna have to remove my driving lights either so I might have a few problems.

Also, can you use rubber hose for some of the IC piping as long as it doesn't kink?

Hey dirty, that setup is lookin real good! now you just gotta get all the electronics and gauges if you don't got'em already. But as far as i can tell, their ain't a lot of room on the passenger side. how big are the IC inlet/outlets?

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

The inlet/outlet are 2.5"OD

I'm thinking of running 2" pipe to the IC and 2.5" pipes out. My biggest concern is the lack of room on the pass. side. If all else fails, I'll run the inlet pipe over the IC so they both are going through the drivers side. Custom setups are a bitch, and I haven't even gotton to the install part yet.

Yea I would go with running it over the intercooler like on a starion or HRC IC. That seems to work really well.

(if you clock the turbo, you can avoid the ghetto-ness U-turn w/ those long couplers, the piping is really only bout 1/2"-1" apart, i just had a problem w/ blowing couplers off...long couplers and double clamps solved that)

Does anyone have any opinion on using rubber hose, at least for a temporary thing. My wastegate acculator is only set for 5psi. I will only be running 5 psi until I'm convinced that all is good.

Rubber hose would work, but I prolly wouldn't do that. As for keeping your driving lights, I don't think you will be able to keep them where they are. Your going to have to make room for that IC, and guaging from your sig pic there is no way they can stay there.

Say goodbye to the fog and driving lights. That's fine though.. buy a nice set of PIAA fog/driving combo lights. You'll need to clock the turbo but also forget about the rubber IC hose idea, VERY bad idea. Get a MIG welder and a bunch of aluminized exhaust pipes from JC Whitney. LEARN TO WELD. That's my advise. I did the same thing you're doing.

The IC deminsions are 24x6x3. I'm gonna be removing the lights from behind the grill, but I still wanted to keep the OE lights. Fuck it, I'll see what I can do. I am getting the pipes from JCWhitney and I'm welding them together, but I just wanted to test shit out before I clock the turbo. Damn the rubber pipe idea then.

Does the STAR IC let you keep the OE driving lights? I don't see how this IC could be that different other than being smaller. Thanx for all the info guys! Feel free to gimme more iif you like.

No, i didnt clock my turbo b/c i didnt have access to a welder. With the internal wastegate i would have to weld a new bracket onto the compressor housing for the wastegate. If you clock the turbo, u can lose the first U and some of the piping, would be much better off flow-wise, something i plan on doing soon

I have a wastegate acculator set for 5psi. When I hook up a boost controller, I can still run more boost even with the same acculator I have now right.

I'm just thinking about having the acculator welded on the turbo instead of making a custom bracket so I can clock it the right amount. Would this be a problem at all. I don't think it would be easy getting it off once it's welded.

on wastegates it will open at 5 psi okay so u use a boost controller to make the waste gate not see boost till the new boost controller opens up at say 10psi

so your wastegate sees nothing till the boost controller opens at 10psi and then the waste opens because 10psi > 5psi voila

Well hell yeah! I guess I will be clocking the turbo and having the wastegate acculator welded on. I just hope it doesn't ever fuck up on me. Also, I read a little bit about clocking the turbo, but has anyone here ever done it? Is there a writeup somewhere?

You should be able to keep your factory fogs. You will need to rout the compressor to i/c pipe so it goes on top of the intercooler then run it through the radiator support to the compressor housing. It takes a little thought but can be done.

So your saying I need to run both pipes through the drivers side?
