#54364, "almost lost my engine"

couple days ago i was out crusin and noticed my car was laggin hardcore after about 3300 rpm's at about half throttle....first thought, fuel pump... so i pulled over and opened my hood and my manifold was glowing, i mean GLOWing....and i hadnt been driving for very long. i must have been running lean. i checked my battery voltage and for some reason it was at 11... so my pump wasnt gettin enough volts. emoji i guess what happened was my alternator somehow grounded and blew its fusible link....13 bucks from a mitsu dealership, but i couldnt drive my car....thank god for the voltage meter on my tt emoji saved my engine from detonation to death.

anyone else ever blow a fusible link? theyre a bitch because of course...ricezone doesnt sell 120a fusible links.

well yea you can blow your motor because if your turbo and your fuel pump is starvin for juice....you risk running lean, and your car cant handle that for to long

my tt is mostly always at 14v, shes happy that way

Was it the 120 Amp fuse under the fuse box? Cause we dont have any fusable links on our cars..not that i know of anyway..A fusable link is basically a wire that will break its connection if its shorted out. Just as info emoji

we have many fusible links. and yes, it was the 120A one for the alternator. look in the fuse box in front of the ECU, theyre on the bottom left.

my turbo was glowing during the day actually...which is double sketchy, it takes a lot of heat to get the manifold to glow in broad daylight after only drivin for 5 miles...and no, i dont have a egt.

YOU REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED TO GET AN EGT. I BLEW A MOTOR BEFORE I GOT ONE, THE GUAGE IS ONLY LIKE 200$ THE ENGINE WAS A LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE.
