#53626, "Apexi TT A/F & O2 readings question..."

I got everything installed on my turbo timer. When I go WOT the readings are between .93-.99 on the O2, and 14.4-14.8 on the AF between 2000-4500 rpms which is usually as high as I go, I'm also only boosting up to 3-4 psi. On the way to work I was in 3rd and floored it and my O2 readings were around .95, then at about 4-5 psi the reading dropped to like .87. Is this normal for it to drop like this at WOT? I did it again looking at the A/F reading and it stayed around 14.7 the whole time.

Also how do you check the O2 reading at partial throttle (if it even matters), mine just jumps around like crazy between .1 - .98 (I know this is normal at idle).

You cant really read it at part throttle. Best I've seen is data logging it. But you shouldnt be getting that low during WOT. IMO at least.

.95 is good for WOT.
.99 is rich but better to have more fuel then not enough.
.87 is too lean.

its only going to read correctly when youve got it floored. my a/f under boost hits 11-11.5. that seems to be the optimal fuel setting for our cars, they seem to respond better with a little more fuel. cruising its always going to read between 14-15.

how is your TT wires connected? directly to the 02 @ the ecu?

are you using the cartech? whats your fuel pressures? etc etc.

Yes I still have the cartech, that's my next upgrade. I have a mechanical fuel pressure gauge so right now I can only check my idle FP, but I just got an electric one and will be installing it this weekend. Oh and I have an EGT gauge tapped on the 4th runner and I never get over 1500 degrees (I'm making sure to boost only up to 4psi until I get the SFMU, Walboro 255 & new injectors in about 2-3 months.)

I thought I read on this site that ~14.7 was good for A/F. Man I can't wait to get that electric gauge in so I can check out how this cartech is holding up.

you should be able to check the idle pressure with your mechanical gauge. the only problem your going to have is that youll have to re-adjust your fuel pressure every time you start the car. the cartech is too inconsistent.

your readings are going to be different every day. to check your boosted fuel pressure, just run a line and put the mechanical gauge in your window under your wiper. keeps it out of the car, but visible so you can see what your boosted pressure is. then adjust fuel accordingly.
14.7 cruising is a good a/f.

Actually I've only been adjusting my idle fuel pressure every couple weeks (but I check it usually every other day), it seems to be pretty constant...at idle. I'll just wait till tomorrow to install my electric gauge I just got and see how it looks under load.

Hey crashedmax, where did you get the harness for the ignition to TT connection. I have mine installed and it turns on, but i think it needs to be rewired b/c a friend did it at the shop and it is not working properly(not cooling down after car turned off).

I ordered the Greddy harness from EAautoworks.com with the TT and a few other things. it wasn't the cheapest for just the TT and harness but with shipping and the other things I ordered it was. I've read that some people received the 1G harness by mistake but there was just 2 wires they had to switch to get it to work. search for Apexi Turbo in the Turbo section and you'll find the post.
