With the RiceKiller 2.0L block from FTY, how many PSI could I run on 94 octane without detonating? Just curious, starting to get ideas for my turbo setup...

with stock ignition advance (about 17-18 degrees at WOT), a FMIC, 8.6:1 compression pistons, and correct fuel mixture i bet you might be able to get away with about 18-19 PSI of boost safely on pump gas.

Yep, a decent FMIC, 94 octane, and about a 11.5:1 A/F ratio, you can prob get it up to 18-19 psi..on a S16G turbo anyway.

I run 18-20psi on 91 w/ an a/f of 11.5:1 and get no knock and that is w/ zero retard. If it was me and I could get 94 on a daily basis I would try to push it up to 23psi. But that is just me.

You should have no problems running 20psi w/ the right fuel system and 94 octane.

Hey Justone: have you ever datalogged your ignition timing advance under boost?? Just curious to see what it was at that boost level and A/F ratio, with 91

ok.. how you adjust timing retard. i don't know nothing about that b/c im not in that stage or point in time yet. and what is advance timing? what's positive and negative effects?

Oh, and I actually hate this question because the real answer is we do not know yet regardless of turbo because no one has pushed it to the extreme limits yet to really say on our motor.

It would be easier to ask what are the limits being pushed right now by people on pump gas and what turbo are they using. I have seen 340fwhp on pump gas and a S20G and I know that more can be made in the right hands.

That's what I meant, I didn't expect people to go out and keep cranking up the boost until they blew up their engine

As far as the type of turbo goes, I'm looking at a T3/T4 hybrid setup at the moment, with a FMIC.

on 94 octane u would just need to watch the fuel pressure. i run 9 daily on 91 octane and am waiting to get a fty 2.0/2.2 block. so then i can really crank up the boost 18 pounds i hope within 5 months or so

What happens if it foes over 17-19 deg. adv. at WOT?
