I have been looking into purchasing a nitrous kit for my GS-Turbo. I want to make sure I know exactly what im getting so I have a couple questions. What does a purge do? Is a kit safe without the blow down tube ? What is the best kit out there? What's a "safe" shot for a boosted 95? Thanks

I'll answer the first 2 questions. A purge valve releases trapped air in the lines which forces the nitrous thru the lines, so there's no delay when you spray. And I wouldn't recommend NOT having a blowdown tube. If the seal brakes while you're in the car, you'll get pretty sick from the fumes, not to mention flash burned from the cold. And the car won't pass tech at the racetrack without a blowdown tube.

I will be honest with you here... I think Nitrous is a BAD BAD BAD idea unless you have a built motor... I had nitrous on my stock eclipse motor and it fried the hell out of my rings and messed my map sensor up quite a few times... it seemed more of a waist than anything else...

if your gonna go NOS go with something nice like venom or NeX.
Don't go cheap... you get what you pay for... and if you plan on dragin your car.. they will fail you if you don't have a blow down tube.

Well, I'm not to sure when it comes to a turbo car what you can and cannot run. If it is a GST from the factory I would say you could get away with a 50 shot. If it is a GST home built without pistons and rods you would definately be asking for trouble unless you are running like 2 psi with a 50 shot which would be pretty stupid when you could just run more boost. I have been running a 85 shot now for about 9 months, have sprayed over and over again, and never had a problem. It's all on the person and how much care they put into seting it all up and making sure everything is correct. Never start out with the largest shot your engine can take. As for the blow down tube I don't have one and have raced on the tracks many times. I have one in my garage but have just been too lazy to put it on. Just a few pointers.

Exactly right. Nitrous can be as safe as you make it. as long as ecerything is hooked up correctly and your not pushing the limits to much. It is a very safe power adder if you know what your doin.
