OK, I'm the one who bought Greg's motor and turbo kit. First the S16G was leaking oil, badly. I bought a new S20G then that turbo leaked oil from borken seals. I replaced it and all was fine, but still too much smoke comming out the exhaust and the catch can. I ran a compression test, the numbers were bad. . Broken seals? Shit, After three months and my car is not running? WTF!! After a 12k investment in the engine, turbo, labor, I still have no car! Greg, please email me ASAP! Take care.

I sent you an email. I think your shop is learning with your car. There was never any compression issues with that engine, ever.

I don't ever recall greg having compression problems with that engine.
what color is the smoke you are getting? are you having a shop work on it or are you? do you or the shop know anything about turbos and the 420a?

Just beacause the turbo leaks oil doesn't mean the seals are bad. Could be as simple as a partially blocked return line, or overly high oil pressure into the center cartrige.

Define "bad" compression. You shop's idea of what's "bad" may be based on incorrect assumptions (ie, your mechanic might be an idiot.)

So you're the guy from El Paso who bought Greg's motor..

I sent the turbo to HRC so they can have a look at it. They will be the ones who determine what is wrong with the turbo. I've replaced that turbo for a new one and all is good, with the turbo. Except the massive ammounts of smoke. They never really ran the car that much. I believe Greg is correct when he says they do not know as much about the 420A engine as they do of Hondas.

They tried to tune the car with Emanage while it had the 625cc inyectors, and I only had the car for about 10 minutes when it started smoking. Since then, we replaced those injectors with a set of 440CC's. What could it be that is causing all that smoke?

I wish I lived in in Houston or somewhere where people actually know about the 420A engine. I live in the desert with only a few tunning shops and all of them tune Hondas! emoji

Anyway, Greg, I apologize for saying this sh*t on the public board. You must understand how I feel after waiting three long months with no car.

HELP!

If the car was lean with the 625's, 10 minutes is plenty to wipe out the rings. Is there any oil in the catch can? What color is the smoke? What exactly are the compression numbers? Any oil in the water or water in the oil? Does it smoke as soon as it starts up or after it's warm? Any oil in the intake piping? Did you notice the egt temp during the 10 minutes you drove it? What were they?

Lots of questions here, but if you want us to diagnose it we'll need lots of info.

It ran rich and not lean with the 625cc injectors. The smoke is bluish and that is all I can remember right now. I'll get back to you as soon as I have the rest of the info. Thanks and take care

pretty sure blue smoke equals oil, you losing any? check the dp to see if it has oil in it, try the catch can trick, it could simply need to breath, and that closed loop system is putting to much pressure in your block.

did u seperate the head and block??

if so did u have the head or block milled flat so u could put it back together witha mls gasket?

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
